You don't say what type of containers you are using. I mostly use 2 ltr soda bottles and gal milk jubs, but also have a few containers that I covered with heavy plastic and cut slits in for ventilation. This is what I tell the attendees at the classes I give...when the true leaves (second set of leaves) appear start widening the slits. If using soda bottles or milk jugs I simply remove the tape so the top half is partially separated from the bottom allowing greater air flow but still enough protection from frost. Another option, which I haven't used is to cut off the spout at the top to increase the size of the opening at the top. If I'm using containers in which I covered the tops with plastic I poke my finger in the slits and enlarge the holes that way, as the seedlings grow I enlarge the holes until the area of holes is greater than not. As the seedlings grow and the temperatures warm up and depending on the plant (plants that will be transplanted early...cold hardy plants) I will completely remove the lid. For annuals I will leave the tops on until the night temps stay about 50 or so. Mostly you have to use your own judgement. If a seedling is ready to be transplanted but the beds aren't ready you can leave the container uncovered just make sure the soil doesn't dry out but then again don't over water either.

Maybe you could download a bootdisk and make a bootable floppy then you should have access the C: drive. If it doesnt start to a dos prompt you'll need to access the bios and set it so it looks to boot from floppy drive (FD) before Hard Drive (HD). This guy has a boot floppy exe that you download, then insert a floppy before running it and it automatically formats and makes a 98SE bootfloppy. I havent used this, he was first one that turned up in a search. It's hard to believe it wont let you get to a dos prompt. Have a feeling you've a loose wire or connection inside.
