Hi Scottfsmith You are welcome, i decided to give you adress of boo so you can read it. Person who wrote that book work in Georgia, U.S.A. so i think he wrote peach varieties in commercial aspect in mind. Commercial production in mind i meant. You mentioned that his view are pretty narrow what a peach should taste like, i think you might be right on that one. Maybe he put some effort thinking peaches as a commercial crop, that way making money growing peaches. I think growing peaches as person and commercial is little different. In commercial way, you need to take so you can hava crop every year and so on. People in garden may want have good taste peach. You said also he doesn't like some of thoe ones I think are the best, you are in Maryland, U.S.A. and people who wrote that books is in Georgia, U.S.A. i think there is some differencies on weather on those places. Also there is differences on light conditions on those places, which might have influence on taste of peach. I think book mentioned some of peach varieties have been good for northern U.S.A., which he didn't like. Looks like you got it right.
