If you wish to use IE it is in your best interest to use IE8 as it is the most secure version released. I just worked on an Acer laptop with XP SP3 today for an unrelated issue. The owner didn't report any IE concerns to me nor did I experience any while connected to the Internet. She also has the current version of Firefox available. I try not to work on any system without it having a second browser as a backup. Having one available could save myself and the owner a lot of unnecessary grief. From my readings it is predicted IE9 will be released somewhere in the next twelve months, as early as December 2010. Nothing firm yet though. DA

genes, I'm sorry I should have said. No my computer come with IE7 already installed. I have had nothing but trouble with 7 and IE6 which I had on another computer was trouble free. No security problems , no freezing up nothing a problem at all, it had a repair tool which I have been unable to find on IE7. Don't know what the Beta IE 8 is going to be like but we will soon know I feel.

It is free go to WWW.mozilla.com and select FireFox. After you download it choose to run or install file it will at one point ask if you want to import your settings and bookmarks say yes to all, when asked if you want it default you can say no for now it can be changed anytime. Once installed when you open it the first time it goes to the FireFox page so you know it installed properly. After that it should open to your normal homepage. Any time you want to use instead of IE just click the FireFox icon on your desktop. You can use both at the same time.
