Which browser is this happening in?

Take a look in the Event viewer
click Start
click Control panel
click Administrative tools
click Event view

In the new window click System on the left side and look down the entries on the right side for red error messages. Double click on any error, you may not understand the gibberish but there will be a clickable link to take you to MS where a fix might be suggested

It just happened again, using Chrome.

I went to the even viewer as suggested, but didn't see any fixes.
I just keep my fingers crossed that it always restarts, but that's not solving the problem why this is happening.

1. Turn off automatic rebooting
Right-click My Computer / Properties / Advanced / Startup and Recovery/Settings.
Under System Failure, uncheck the Automatically restart check box
You will then get a BSOD with error message which will help identify the problem.

Please post the message such as
STOP 0x00000000A IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL
and any drivers named ( *****.sys)

I did as you suggested. No kind of error message showed up.
It did say that If the pagefile on volume C has an initial size of less than 0 megabytes, then the system may not be able to create a debugging information file if a STOP error occurs.
Go ahead anyway?

Just so you know I ran both my malawarebytes and Antispyware tools yesterday. This may be why there isn't any kind of history associated with the stop-error.

This most likely a driver issue, but we need the stop error.

You can google stop error to get an idea of what they are.

next time it blue screens it will stay there and not reboot so you can read error.

lots of things can cause it..

When you went to the Event viewer on your computer did you see any red error messages at all? If you had a notice saying it was about to shut down this should certainly be recorded in the Event viewer.

When you see a red error message you can double click on it to bring up another page which may not be understood but there will likely be a link there which could bring up a howto to fix the issue.

It lists a bunch of stop-errors. But unless it does it again and I have the specific x00000000 error code, I may not know what to do about it.

Just an update.
It did it again today. I was using Chrome at the time.

Google the error "Stop: 0x0000008E" with out quotes..

See if you can find anything that relates to your particular situation.

Jadip read the link below, it may well be your problem. The first Symantec link leads to a blog, I checked August and September entries but found nothing. The second Symantec link brings you to the fix, page 2 especially. This will be a time consuming and probably nerve wracking experience but if you address the issue one line at a time it will work.

Owbist, I saw this exact thing yesterday when I googled my problem as Zep suggested. I'm a tad overwhelmed by all the fancy lingo. I'm thinking I'll take my laptop to a friend of mine and have her go through all the steps and suggestions (she's an IT'er).
I'm going to save that page on my desktop for easy access.

My friend left a while ago. She couldn't do the fix. She was unable to find the files they are requesting in the steps to remove it.

We did a symantec scan and it found 3 trojans in my disk drives.
All on mp3. (3 songs). 2 are trojan.wimad and 1 is trojan.brisv.A

I'm looking at the removal instructions for the Brisv.A now. (Can't find the instructions for the wimad)

get malwarebytes free immediately and use it. download it update it and run full scan let it clean everything it finds it may require a reboot.
it would be helpful if you could post your malwarebytes log here for us to see if you will need more intense cleaning tools.

I took my laptop to a friend over the weekend. We installed AVG, so I'm using it as well as Avast.

Did a complete anti-virus and it caught all 3 trojans. So my computer should be free and clear now.

I regularly use Avast, and now AVG; SuperAntiSpyware and Malawarebytes. I've used CCleaner at times as well.

Jasdip please remove either AVG or Avast as 2 anti virus programs do not agree on the same computer. Either program is a good program so if you cannot decide then flip a coin.

Did you try a FULL scan with Avast before installing AVG? Most program are set to a quick scan by default because many users are more intent on a speedy computer than being sure it is clean.

Malwarebytes is the choice to use especially for trojans and will clean your pc much better than the others.

Agree no no to having 2 running antivirus programs on the pc at one time. They will conflict. Choose one. I use AVAST now, prefer it over AVG.

If you have not gone ahead and run an updated malwarebytes scan do so.

Should I remove AVG? My techie friend has it running along with Avast and they work well together.

I've been using Avast for about a year, and I like it. Previously I was using AVG then I mis-understood that they wanted me to buy version 8 so have been using Avast ever since.

My first techie friend who I approached with my start-fix, has started a new job as an IT and they were thrilled when she told them she uses AVG. I thought I'd try running them both. Are you advising me to dump AVG?

Remove avg 2 Anti Virus programs should not run at the same time, Same with a firewall.

Use that remover link I gave you that will remove all of AVG.

Ok, I'll dump AVG and stick with Avast!
OR do you recommend the opposite? Do you have a personal preference?

Avast is lighter on resources AVG has become somewhat bloated.So I would install Avast or in your case keep Avast.

I know this won't solve your immediate problem. But a quick way to bypass Windows completely is to use a live Linux CD like Ubuntu and boot up from there. The Washington Post's Brian Krebbs has had a series of articles about this. I'll post below:

Grrrrrr! I'm so ticked off.
SuperAnitVirus came up to tell me that there are updates available. I downloaded them, and the Blue Screen Came Back!!!
This can't be coincidence. Do you think SuperAntiSpyware is the culprit? That was one thing I had done when this whole crap first started.

Anyway, they were different Numbers this time.
I did a virus-scan with Avast and nothing was found. I'm going to continue now with Superantispyware and Malawarebytes.

What are the #s? I would uninstall SuperAntispy for now.

I uninstalled my SuperAnti last nite. I just finished CCleaner and Malawarebytes, and found no problems.

I noticed that it crashed when I went to a site, using Chrome last nite. I used Chrome almost all the time as I really like it.
Today I haven't used chrome at all, scared to, in case it was the problem. Do you think Chrome could be the issue? A simple browser?

STOP: 0x00000050 suggests a video card driver may be at fault. Ever updated your video driver? If you do not know what video card you have click Start/Control panel/System/Hardware/Device manager. Now look down the list and double click on Display adaptors. You can then go to the appropriate site and see if updated drivers are available for your machine.

Have you been inside the case or moved the tower at all? Check the video cable is securely fastened at both ends. If you have a separate video card as opposed to built into the motherboard ensure it is seated properly AFTER shutting down, removing the power cable from the rear and resting you bare hand or arm on the metal case frame to ground yourself.
