casi you should always have at least one extra browser on any pc, that way if IE should crash or not work you would be able to use the other one to get online and get help. You can have as many browsers as you want it is just one more program you add to your pc. Firefox is what I use as do many others but Chrome and Opera are popular. I do not use IE at all except when I have to use it for MS updates. To use another browser on your pc you just download it, let it install, then when you want to go online you just click on the icon for that browser instead of the one for IE it is that simple. Plus firefox and most others will ask you during install if you want to import your settings and bookmarks from IE you say yes and your new browser will have everything IE had all set up for you. Whether anyone uses IE or not you should always update to the latest version for your version of windows for security reasons. However if you have XP you would not be able to use IE9 it is for Vista and above, and should not be offered in updates for those with XP

Something simple you might consider trying first... Put IE9 in compatibility mode by clicking the little icon beside the address bar(see below). That will make your IE9 appear to be and supposedly render pages as if it were IE7. It may or may not help but it's easy to try. Thanks for your suggestion, Joe, but when I go to step 3 to right-click on Windows Internet Explorer, it's not there on the list. I've searched the web about this and others have had the same problem. I have searched my computer and can't find it anywhere. It's like they (Microsoft) have found a secret hidey-hole to store it in. Even my son looked around and couldn't find it. (He's a lot more computer savvy than I am.) Believe me I have spent mega time on this. I went to the Microsoft website and tried the fix-it link and nothing happened, either.
