It's cold and raining here today - a good day for home shopping. I would love to take advantage of the sales/free shipping I keep hearing are supposed to be happening but I'm not sure where to start.

My online purchases are generally limited to LLBean, Land's End, King Arthur Flour, etc. sites that don't slash prices for CyberMonday.

I'm in the market for a set of stainless flatware, service for 12, that I could really use over the holidays. It has to be 18/10 - bought a lesser, smaller set a couple years back that is already starting to discolor & pit.

If any of you are online shopping savvy & can point me to a trusted source, I would appreciate it.

QVC sells Reed & Barton 18/10 SS flatware at very good prices. Many of their sets include steak knives, extra teaspoons, and 12-15 serving pieces. All are services for 12. I own a set that I've been using as everyday flatware for 6-1/2 years...still like new. I've also given sets as gifts.

We did some on line shopping, and some in person shopping at the Half Price Bookstore. I'm lucky enough to have friends that don't mind used books. DH wanted to go to a sporting goods store to buy his brother a gift, but the store is about 12 miles away. I asked if he could buy it on line, and we found it at Amazon. I don't think it was on sale, but what we saved in time and gas was worth it. I did notice that Amazon has the Kitchenaid Pro mixer slashed by $200, but I don't need a new mixer. I was almost wishing I did, lol.

I found a red Kitchen Aid mixer for my daughter at Sears.com today - $25 less than Amazon & free delivery. I won't even have to lug it home from the store, which is about 3 miles from my house. :)

I went to Talbot's after work and spent $200 on clothes for myself. That was with 20 percent off. I bought a cashmere sweater that I'm not so sure about so it may go back.

I do like shopping online, though. I don't really do much in the way of Christmas shopping.

We have a very short gift list this year, which I may shorten even more -- or at least make eaier on myself -- by giving the nephews gift cards to their favorite bookstore.
I was going to do the rest at local independent stores, but I realized last week that all the good ones - the ones with unique items -- have closed or moved to a larger town. Looks like LL Bean and The Spice House to the rescue. I guess the good part to that is that I can just ship things directly where they need to go since the recipients are all out-of-state. :)

I've got a new to me hobby - hand weaving! I've made myself two scarves so far getting the hang of my little Cricket loom. So today I shopped online for yarn as the stores in my town leave much to be desired. I bought enough for free shipping and will have enough to make at least 2 more scarves for gifts. So that's what everyone's getting from me this year....a handwoven soft, wool scarf.

I thought CyberMonday happened every Monday. LOL I regret the day I signed up for Amazon's free shipping; it takes away the second chance I have when I go to check out and see the shipping charges. DH wanted to know if we were inviting the UPS guy to dinner.

I got toys and a few kitchen things so far.

Well, I clicked on the QVC link and got a website for Westminster Crackers, LOL.

I've already gotten Bruvver's bike and Makayla's Girl Gourmet Cake Bakery online and already delivered. I do have to assemble the bike.

Elery and I are not buying gifts for each other. The girls will get cash. I drew the name of the new-soon-to-be-daughter-in-law/fiancee on Elery's side of the family and there's a $100 spending limit, so she's getting a gift card to Musician's Friend, she's a music teacher. I ordered that on line

Some stocking stuffers and "Santa" gifts for the little kids on Christmas Eve and I'm done.

I did promise Amanda I'd take her shopping so she can finish up her stuff while I play with the kids, and Makayla still needs a prissy dress.

Oh, and I got tickets to see "The Nutcracker", I got those on-line too. Bruvver is going to stay and play with Elery, he doesn't want to see "The Nutcrapper". LOL
