Can I use shower curtain for my shower room?

I have a 3.5' X 5.5' shower room. Can I use a shower curtain instead of shower door for this shower room? Will it look weird to you? What other disadvantages are there? Since my budget is tight, I'm seriously considering this now.......

I'd rough it in for glass meaning extra support in the walls. So when your budget permits you can replace the curtain.

I assume your budget doesn't allow for a glass screen?

Magnets don't work well enough; neither do suction cups. Maybe it's this tub or something, but I still get water rolling off the tub. I needed something that would carry the TOP of the shower curtain around, so that it wasn't pulling the bottom of it back out.

Sorry, but I don't think it's going to look right. Of course, I'm one that's not fond of curtains since they have to be cleaned and they tend to flap in the wind when showering. There are frameless shower doors available and framed one that have a more open look that is easier to clean. I keep revisiting this thread, hoping for a Sign. :) Is it ever acceptable to use a shower pan and create a tile threshold over it, thereby making it higher? As for cleaning the nonskid elements of a shower or tub. I have some wonderful nonskid strips in my otherwise very slippery acrylic tub where I take my showers. Yes, they pick up and hold grime a little too well and you can't just go gangbusters cleaning acrylic. The other day I used some Softscrub and a curved nail brush that fits around a couple of fingers. With very little elbow grease ALL the grime was removed and the shape of the nail brush is very ergonomic.

I used 18x36 tiles for my shower walls but I placed 14X18 shower soap

In hindsight, a wider niche would have looked better or centering the smaller niche in the larger tile, but it really isn't worth changing. Next time you design/build a shower you won't make that mistake again, right? Probably not, but you will probably make some other mistake!

i don't see why not - those pics look great w/ a curtain. you might go ahead and do what is need for a door in case you ever do change your mind.

I got a quote from a local glass door company. Since my shower room opening is very wide (66"), it will cost me $1300 to install frameless shower doors. Furthermore, the shower door will not face the bathroom door. It will face the toilet. Just like the photo olychic posted: http://www.woatile.com/images/shower38L-Travertine-Tile-Custom-Shower-Inset-Shelf.jpg. If you stand at the bathroom door entry, you will not see the entire glass shower door. So I think it is not worth such an expensive shower door.

genie73 - What should I do if I want to "add extra support in the wall" in case my budget permits in the furture? My GC have not tiled the shower room yet. Thank you!

Well, i am not reccomending to use curtain, simply becouse shower curb is to short to keep curtain inside wet area - you dont want water to endup on main flood.
