PLEASE! Windows Settings Changed, Need Help!

Hello.

Ok, I'm desperately needing your help! I don't know what the heck happened, but I was sitting at my computer here about an hour ago and the Windows window I had opened just changed all by itself.

Now I understand sometimes buttons are pushed that we don't know of, but I don't know. I just know what I'm seeing I don't like. I use to have a standard looking window and now it's changed. There use to be 4 different lines on top...

Below is what I was use to seeing...

1.) First line was the blue one that went from the left all the way to the right side and I believe this is where the title of the page sits. On top yours in IE may say "Computer Help Forum - Garden Web - Microsoft Internet Explorer Provided by Your IP Co."

2.) 2nd line said something like File - Edit - View - Favorites - Tools - Help

3.) Third line had the back and forward buttons, the Red X STOP option, Refresh, Home, Search, History, Mail, etc, etc, etc.

4.) Fourth line is a long address bar almost all the way to the right side with GO & LINKS at the end.

Can someone please show me how I can go about getting back my old Window settings? I did this about a year and a half ago and it was a major pain. It happened back then too... just changed on it's own.

Oh, and also, I don't have sound anymore either. When I use to minimize or maximize a window... or even click on links, etc, there use to be seperate sounds for those and all is silent now.

If you guys/gals can help me out, it would save me hours of grief!

Aurelius,

It looks like you may have mistakenly pressed the F11 key. That's the key that gives you full-screen view. Pressing F11 again should return it to normal view. HTH.

Hi Terry,

Not sure why, as things went back on their own. What I did was to open another window and was working in the 2nd window because it came up almost normal, but when I went back to the 1st window, that would be the one with the problem. Things are back to almost what they were.

I couldn't get the sounds to work, but here's the funny part...

I had the sound off. LOL!

Thanks for your help. I did the F11 on purpose to see what happened and it replicated my problem. Maybe I did hit that key accidently. I'd have to be waaaaaaay off on my key strokin' thought to be that far off. LOL!

I got it squared away.

If you're talking about the bathroom off the Rumpus room, the only thing I think you really need to do is make it a tiny bit wider. I would bring the bathroom wall out even with the edge of the Rumpus Room's built-in cabinets so that there is a little more "standing room" in front of the toilet and the shower is a little bigger. Then, if window placement will allow you to do so, for the convenience of guests staying in the guest room, you might mirror image the whole bathroom vertically so that the sink (and door) are up close to the guest room and the shower is down by the built-in cabinets. That would save your guests a few steps to reach the toilet in the middle of the night. Now stop obsessing! There ARE only so many ways to arrange a toilet, a shower, and a vanity. LOL! The whole upstairs looks fantastic. Great theater room, nice large play room with plenty of room for a bar sink and fridge and storage of games/toys, a balcony that'll be big enough to actually sit out on to enjoy the view, AND easy access to the unfinished attic! I think you've done good! Now how about having your architect revise the elevation drawings and post those just so we can see them? I'm looking forward to watching you build.

I'm a novice at naming styles (the usual limits of my decorating vocabulary have been "that's nice") but if I were to give it a shot I would call the buffalo check a western/country/rustic/log cabin look. I think your names for your usual style are pretty good - French, traditional, also maybe formal, a bit dressy. For me, those styles don't have an intersection point with each other, but maybe for other people they do. At the moment with those drapes in the living room, it strikes me like wearing sweat pants and high heels together. That is to say, some people do it, but that doesn't make it a good thing :-) The valance at the "ledge" strikes me as good whatever you do to cover the window, because without it the window is so stark compared to the kitchen immediately adjacent. By cafe curtains, do you mean the tiered set? I'm just not sure what that means? I always think of kitchen curtains! How would I mount a curtain rod from the ceiling? I once had regular curtain rods before I put in the seat, but with the roller shades, there is no place to put the rod hooks. I don't want to block off the windows as in the first photos-I mostly need to be able to block the extreme sunlight and provide some evening privacy if needed.
