I did quite well with a 4 hp old Ariens. It was able to handle over 12" snowfalls. It would only cut a 20" swath, but it was a lot easier to handle than the 24 " 8 hp Ariens I used last winter. Both have an electric start that needs to be plugged into an extension cord. This has the advantage of not having to deal with a battery.

I started selling at the farmers markets 3 years ago. I grow flowers and lots and lots of dwarf conifers. I had been selling loads of hostas on line, but it seems everyone And thier uncle is selling hostas! I sell at 3 markets a week and my wife sells at a smaller one on Saturday (I sell at our biggest market on Saturday). At our markets you must grow your own to be able to sell. If you are selling for someone else, you must be registered with the county Ag department to sell for the other person. You can only sell for one other person. I am the president of a small market association, and last year we meet with the Sate Ag folks and Boy! do they have a lot of new rules! I found as long as we followed the rules, the Ag department backed us up when we had problems. I made about $12,000 selling at the markets last year. It now tops our on-line sales. We now have 4 small kit-greenhouses purchased from Farmtek. We have expanded into fruit trees and blue berries this year, so I am quite anixous for the selling season to begin. We have been growing Christmas trees in pots for 3 years, and this past season had our first sales. We hope next year to be able to make around $2,000 from christmas trees and compainion plants. Many thanks whirpool_trainee. The current dw is a Bosch, +8yro and we've repaired it twice at considerable expense along with the "fix" for the panel associated with perhaps a "fire" (no charge by Bosch for the recall). We've spent more on the dw than it is worth. Our kitchen is open to the den and the noise interferes with conversation, tv, music etc... hence the search for something quiet. Your info on the XXL helps! Miele really needs to fix this installation page; it's the same for all models and inconsistent with their specs. The ADA model has a 6" kickplate and I'm told loses about 2" inside, also it is only average on Miele scale of "noise". attofarad; we think alike :-D I really want your interpretation and my interpretation to be correct! I talked to Miele again today; they are very nice and patient with my questions. The rep asked a technical person who said the dw will fit and if it does not they will take it back. They also told me the dw cannot be installed without the feet since the cord exits the unit from the bottom and there is some kind of "drip pan" too. My plan is to have the old dw removed and measure then measure again before ordering. Miele is pretty pricey, but it if lasts for 20 yrs then it's a good deal.
