Transfer Photo from Cell Phone to PC

I can not figure out how to get the pictures off my Motorola Razor X33 to my Laptop which is running Windows Vista Premium Home. I bought a USB cable today, found the user manual for phone, followed the steps to the letter. Got a message on laptop that the driver successfully downloaded. However when I go to the "removable storage device drive f" and double click on it (per phone manual instructions) it tells me to insert disk.

I have tried several times and nothing...........

I also tried Paint Shop Pro X2 to download, I get a screen that pops up that says "download from Motorola Razor...." select pictures and click on Get Pictures.......nope does not work either.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong? I tried looking on the Motorola site and could not find anything, tried to call my cell service provider but that was the usual push this, push that, No we will not let you talk to a live person routine.................

I have some very special photos on my phone and I would like to get them on my PC

This one thing is not clear to me. Did you install the Razor driver? My Razor requires the purchase of a special disk to install the driver. I already have a compatible cable.

I have researched a little for a free driver but have not been comfortable with those that I have reviewed so far. The Motorola Tech site is far from plainspeak.

Oh, no I did not purchase anything the girl at the AT&T store told me I just needed the cable. Plus when I followed the instruction to plug in the USB it then showed in the lower right of my laptop that it was installing the driver..........then it said Driver successfully installed for Motorola whatever...........I will have to try again and see what happens. I would not care except there are some pic.s of my family from the last time we were all able to go out together....I don't want to loose them.

Cat, Good for you, I turn 75 this summer, my wife turned 75 this month. If she was more mobile I'm sure we would still be riding bikes and hiking, maybe still skiing - we were doing all those things up to at least age 70 or more. I do house work and cooking as well as maintain a 5 acre property (not so good as I should given the time I have). On the tech'y side I just put in a new HDTV and am in the process of changing out set top boxes to get HD from Comcast - I have their minimum package and didn't need the HD when I had only SDTV. I also added Roku (I had that on the previous SDTV which works so well I hate throwing it out). The Roku 2 I have was easy to interface with my home WiFi - but I would have come here if I had experienced problems. Well in truth I did as I wanted to get Youttube on my Roku 2, not available directly but should be possible with the PLEX application, that's something I may think more on if I can work up the energy : ( On photography, I am still sorry digital cameras happened. I had/have a nice B&W darkroom set up and had designs of doing some "Ansal Adams" after retirement. In spit of my lack of expertise on the phone in the camera, I do understand photography better--than-average and have some sophistication in my digital camera arsenal. But I shoot mostly in the 3 mp detail (can do 10 mp) because I don't enlarge anything any more... have a lot from the film camera days. On things I don't get around to I have a 2 GBit SD card that I should put in my main camera...but put it off so long I now can't find it. Aging memory strikes again - as does sitting too much. I guess it's alright to chat with a GW Friend - hope so.

Good suggestion, as many ID pix showing up here are of poor quality for ID purposes. Or if the bug is trustworthy, just have it take a selfie with your phone.

You're right, the two hardware pieces (the phone and the PC) should recognize one another and figure out how to talk. The phone would then appear as an external drive when you open Windows Explorer. Did you try that, do you see another drive under "This PC" after C: and maybe also after a backup sector (D:) ? And then photos are usually in a folder with the name DCIM or a subfolder of DCIM. A bluetooth connection might be tried instead of a USB cord if your PC has bluetooth but that may be too complicated for you to use. Have you looked in the User Manual of the phone for help? Are you using the newest PC you own to try for the connection? Connections and settings in the Android world sometimes differ from one company to another and from one Android version to another. If you don't see the phone listed using Windows Explorer on the PC after trying the above, I'd call your cellular carrier's tech support. I'm sure they can help you. Good luck

This isn't a phone brand issue ... this is a battery issue. I've had a Macbook battery that did a partial melt ... my ipad battery is having issues ... my sister had a macbook battery that also charred ... so you should all probably get rid of your Apple products too! My son was also recently having battery issues with his Google phone overheating. Again, this is a battery technology issue. My husband is into remote control planes and he charges most of his batteries in special heat/explosion resistant containers. Just the nature of the technology. I'll continue to buy ipads and I'll continue to buy Samsung phones. My son will probably buy another Google phone. When you look at the total number of phones that have sold worldwide, the number of defective products is very small. I even owned the infamous Samsung Note 7, mine had no issues, but were still recalled. I've owned the Samsung Galaxy 7 without issues and will probably upgrade soon to a Note 9 or Galaxy 10, or wait for the Note 10 later this year.

I'm not familiar with your Motorola model, but with my Razr, I use a micro SD card. Take the card out and transfer to my computer. Before using the card, I would email photos to myself. I tried software to transfer my photos, but could never get it to work. Well, I take that back..it did work ONCE!!!!.. :)

I use the Motorola Phone Tools software to download pictures from my Razr V3. I have never been able to 'see' the pictures otherwise.

have you tried emailing the pics from your phone to your email address? then once in your email on your pc you just right click on the picture and select save as to save them to the hard drive.

If you have the ability to have a memory card in your phone then that is the way to go, put them on the memory card, take out memory card, put in memory card reader which is either built in your pc or use a usb memory card reader to access the contents of the memory card.

I did read through the links but have not had time to try all yet, too many other things getting in way right now. Thanks for the help and info. I will email a few of the really special ones to myself but still want to find out how to do it with all photos..........
