Hi, Thanks for the responses ! :-) First, my apologies. I'm very neuro-flatulent today. ;-) I need to make two corrections. She uses Avira not Avast. (She had been using Avast and that was causing some trouble, as other users of those two programs noted.) Avira has been working quite well so far. I think my main issue (and my second correction) is the 'nag factor' associated with Online Armor. (I'm afraid my word "conflict" was a case of me accidentally typing the word that was in the back of my mind thinking about the issues mentioned above between Avast (her former AV) and OA. Sorry for the confusion.... :-( ) Anyway, OA constantly asks me to allow/block things when I'm doing updates, scans, etc. Even when I tick the "trust this program" box I still get asked repeatedly to give my permission for things. It's just the inconvenience of it all. And I assume that 'nag factor' would still be there if I replaced Avira with MSE, so I'd gain nothing. (And as far as third-party firewalls go, I do like OA for her XP computer because it seems to pass leak tests better, in my limited experience. So, until MSE comes out with a FW as part of the software (the two-way kind) -- or until my aunt upgrades to something like Windows 7 that has a better FW -- I guess she may as well stay put with Avira and OA.) Also, my aunt does have Spywarblaster, so she's covered there. :-)

Hi ajard, We were seriously torn between the Best K42, 36" and the Prestige. In the end, for a variety of reasons, we got the Best vent hood. But I still wonder if perhaps the Prestige wasn't the better value in terms of performance. (Not that I don't love my new Best vent.) The Prestige has baffles (as opposed to mesh); many people on GW seem to think this is the better choice. I got to look at the Prestige in person (but not see or hear it hooked up live). It looked very well built (the fit and finish were perfect) and I've heard nothing but praise for Prestige on Gardenweb (see the appliance forum). For your information, as far as I can tell the Bluestar vent hood pyramid vent hood is identical to the Prestige, if you want colors. As for the Best, I think you may be able to order it without the Best logo. If that is the vent hood you want, it is worth calling Best and asking. I will say that I hardly even notice the logo since it is well above my eye level. I think no matter which you chose you will love it. They are both very good quality vent hoods. Having a vent hood has transformed the way I cook!

We're installing a sheet rock patch in a wall with a stud behind it. Now if there was not a stud here, you would have to get some clips or use a small, thin board on each end. You just want to the patch up to it, that's already been pre-cut and everything. Get it to sit in there right. Screw it in nice and tight. And then we would take a- once it's all installed- take some, either the net kind, sheet rock tape, or they also make a paper kind. I prefer this because you can just stick it on- it's self-adhesive. And you take some sheet rock mud, and you're going to do this in several coats, because you don't want it too thick. So, just going to scrape it on like that. And this first coat does not have to be real smooth. Just get it real thin, and you're going to let this dry- this is probably going to take three to four hours to dry , and once it's dry, you'll be able to tell- it'll just be all white. And after that you sand it, put one more coat on it and sand it that. And then you're ready to prime it. Here is a link that might be useful: how to patch shhetrock

I doubt she is going to answer since the website has been sold twice since that post was made nine years ago. Anyhow, you can bypass the switches if you are just going to use the remote, but frankly, I'd not do that. You'd like the ability to to hard switch off the fans for maintenance things like replacing the bulbs. Just install the fan to the switched circuit. Work the switches so that the fan is powered and then just use the remotes. You can put a piece of tape over the switch to remind you to use the remote.
