https sign in goes to blank page

When I sign in to https the browser url shows going to the new page, but the page itself is blank.

I have run 3 virus type programs including malawarebytes and nothing shows up. I don't see anything unusual on the rsit log.

Any ideas?

This may be an IE 9 problem. I have windows 7. I updated firefox and after being sure my temp cache was empty, was able to get into the sites.

Interesting.

I too use FF, but in response to your concern I just went over to my fully updated IE9 with its default settings, and tried three HTTPS sign in sites. All are highly known and respected sites. One loaded normal. One loaded after I reloaded the page. One didn't load leaving a blank page.

My Flash for IE, Shockwave and Java are all current.

the confusing thing with about:blank is it can be a legit response to having your homepage set to blank that instance if perfectly fine, then there is a nasty malware that incorporates an about:blank instance, that one is often very hard to get rid of, and it now appears this one you have found is yet another variable which may not be part of that nasty malware (coolwebsearch) but is some kind of ad link. It is pretty confusing. about:blank = the URL interpreted by most web browsers as the command to display a blank HTML document I think if it were me I would just avoid weather.com for now. If you are showing clean with all your scans I think you are ok. Just in case your IE is not set up this way you might want to check and make sure. This is for IE 6.0. For other browsers, check microsoft or your browsers developer. # Go to tools --> Internet Options and select Advanced tab. UN-check "Enable Install On Demand" and "Allow Software To Run or Install". That is UN-check! # Go to security tab --> Internet --> Custom Level. Set " Download Unsigned Controls ' and " Initialize and Script Active-X controls not marked as safe " to Disable. Set ' Download Signed Controls ' to Prompt. If you are not experiencing your actual homepage being hijacked and changed to about:com then I don't think you have the coolwebseach variant.

I'm using your plan view drawing to make some suggestion. I don't there is as much space in the back yard as it shows so I'm reducing it some. For starters, it looks to me like you are making the patio too small to be genuinely useful. By the time you place a table and chairs, a grill, spillover seating and what not, it would be extremely crowded. Consider expanding it to what average users might desire, even if you don't think you need that much space. I've never heard anyone complain about having too much space on the patio, but plenty complaining of too little. Some small (15' height) trees surrounding the back yard would help give a sense of privacy without becoming overwhelming. To my thinking, multi-trunk trees would be better than single trunks ... more substance, more screening and more options of what could be used. At the front yard, a small multi-trunk tree between you and neighbor's would help your house from theirs and help screen the view between the houses. A medium flowering tree could give the house a sense of being somewhat sheltered, protected and give the street some personality. Like others, I agree that not having shrubs between drive and walk is better. Low (less than 12") groundcover would work better. Carrying it around the sloped portion of the yard and L. side of house would lessen maintenance and give a fuller look. Some seasonal color near the steps would be a cheerful greeting when entering the house.

FWIW, there's one adage I firmly believe in: "No good deed goes unpunished." On the face of it, this seems like a good thing, but who's going to provide the soil amendments, tools, seed, etc.? Further, who's going to teach or mentor these folks? Not to mention who's going to "police" these small gardens to prevent non gardeners from helping themselves to nice ripe tomatoes, etc.? We had something "sorta" similar here about ten years back. A piece of city property was tilled and worked up, "low risk" prisoners did all the planting, weeding, harvesting, supplies were donated by a couple of clubs. Produce was given to the needy via a food bank. Only lasted a couple of years, the local farmers market complained that their sales were being impacted. The prisoners decided they should be paid for their labor, seems that getting outside, fresh air, sunshine and exercise didn't compare to sitting in a cell. My neighbor is very active in her church and they help support a local food bank. She and her husband pulled into my driveway a couple of months ago and asked if I knew anyone who could use some potatoes and onions? I looked in the back of their truck and it was piled high with same. potatoes were five-ten lb. bags in a big bag, onions were ten-three lb. bags also in a bag. Long story short, I took six fifty lb. bags of poatoes and four thirty lb. bags of onions. The next day I delivered to folks who would use them, not "welfare" folks, but those who knew how to deal with raw produce. It seems that there was another shipment (smaller) coming in and they had to make room. If it's not canned, "heat and eat," and requires actual preparation, the "needy" aren't real interested. I know I've offered fresh green beans, etc. to the local food bank "we'll take some, but not too many." The tragedy is, there is real hunger in this country, but if they don't know how to cook, or even peel a potato or are motivated to learn, how can we help them? Rhetorical.

I believe they are original engravings as far as I can tell, but I am no expert. Is there a way to specific way to tell the difference? I can see the outlines from the metal plates that stamped the pages, the words are slightly indented where they where pressed but the pictures don't have the indentations. Most pictures are on their own page of thicker, glossier paper with the thing protective cover sheet. Some pictures are on pages with words and look to be printed in a different way.

Good job calirose! So many people don't even think to clear out their temp. files.

I use 2 really good programs to do that.

The 1st is Ccleaner:

Download href="http://majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_Slim_d4191.html">Ccleaner if you don't have it already.

Install and use with the default settings.

NOTE:
Ccleaner includes a Registry cleaner, and we advise not to use this or any registry cleaner as there have been reports of them clearing out needed registry entries and messing up PCs. In addition, what they do clean up is so small that little or no advantages are noticed.

2nd is TFC (Temporary File Cleaner by OldTimer):

TFC-Temporary File Cleaner

Double-click TFC.exe to run it.

Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator

TFC will close all programs when run, somake sure you have saved all your work before you begin.
- Click the Start button to begin the cleaning process.
- Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two.
- Please let TFC run uninterrupted until it is finished.
Once TFC is finished it should restart your computer. If it does not, please manually restart the computer yourself to ensure a complete cleaning.
Use both cleaners. What one does not clean the other does.

You need to access the Internet Options through Internet Explorer click tools> Internet Options> Advanced tab or through Control Panel,

THEN

Go to Advanced tab and put a check mark on Use software rendering instead of GPU rendenring*. This option is found inside the box of Settings.

Mine was already checked, check yours and see if it's checked, if not place a check mark in it. Then restart IE9 by closing the browser and re-opening it. See if that helps.

I think you have a very easy thing to fix. You need to change a setting in "internet options" under "Home page". "Internet options" is under "tools". There's choices of the home page you want to use. Depending on what Windows version you have the wording will vary, but the choices are usually to "use current" and you enter the page you want, "use default" which is probably Microsoft and "use blank". I think your setting is "use blank". Just change it "use current" and enter the website you want in the box. Hope this is the problem!
