Wallpaper folders

I have always put my wallpaper in the wallpaper folder, with folders in it like landscapes, animals, etc and was able to open the folders. Now when I use "personalize" to set new wallpaper, the only folders that will open are the ones with folders in them. The ones without folders inside will not open. The Holidays folder will open, the Christmas folder inside it will not. This a new change. Any suggestions as to what to try. I have W 7 and FF. I use Irfanview for for most of the photos.

Sorry, I think it was an update for W 7 and I couldn't uninstall it, so I did a system restore with a date before the update and it works now.

What update didn't install? I too recently had one that wouldn't/couldn't install on my Vista.

Very funny raven, I would like to have you sitting at this computer right NOW! For the first time I am totally fed up with a computer and the problem is Vista. It is functioning ok, but just can't do the things I want to do. The only way I can view them as thumbnail is "browse with Irfanview". My laptop is widescreen and Irfan has an option to "fit to size of screen" which works. Then when I choose to set as background it asks center, tile or stretch which I haven't found when I go directly to the folder. I'm calling it a night before I through this laptop through the window. LOL

What is the path wallpapers and screensavers?

I think I misread it. You can download to anywhere you want. Wallpaper is just a photo, so really could go into My Pictures. Screensavers are another story. I don't have much experience with them except the ones that came with windows. The ones that I have downloaded and installed seemed to install wherever they wanted. I remember one coming with adware and I had to search high and low to find the place where it was. Hopefully they leave a uninstall in add/remove, so when you tire of it, it can be removed.

I could not "Uninstall" it so I did a system restore.

I wanted to update this in case someone has this problem. I had solved the problem of folders not opening to set new wallpaper with a system restore, then it came back. I Googled some more and found a site that said to copy and paste your wallpaper into the computer's wallpaper folder. The instructions said to type "C:\windows\web\wallpaper" without quotes into Start/Search. The computer's wallpaper folder came right up. I didn't think this would would work because I have so much wallpaper, but it does. My wallpaper is not in folders anymore, but the names of the folders are there with the wallpaper below. this is not as easy as the other way but it does work.

I would never have found the wallpaper folder, I miss the old "start/windows explore" option.

I love having the ability to find the answer to so many questions on line.
