I like tripod, they have a very simple to use template type webdesign that anyone can use it is called trillion, I have one of my websites on tripod. I like it better than bravenet but bravenet is also a good free one.

have you checked with your isp most give you a generous amount of free webspace to create a website, I am on verizon and they provide a good amount free and you can purchase more if needed.

The verizon one does not have ads on it but any of the free ones will have ads on them that is how they make their money some are worse than others.

bravenet will send you quite a bit of email about their stuff so be prepared for that, tripod has never ever sent me any email.

Both have photo album features and guest books and even blogs all kinds of goodies to add on, music too if you want it.

I have a very expensive, non-returnable designer pendant light that I would love to sell and recoup some of my cost. The place I bought it was misleading in reporting dimensions - so it's not what we want (but I misread the fine print). So I'm stuck with a $2000+ pendant light I can't use.

Trying to sell it on craigslist and ebay were too random. Someone would have to be looking for this fixture to be willing to pay even a largely reduced price (not the buyer market on craigslist and ebay). Looking here I thought that maybe I could create a free web page (either with tripod or rcn). If I did that, could I also use a google adword campaign? I think without directing searches to this webpage, nobody would find me.

Any suggestions?

I'm in DC and think Craigslist is still a good bet. Just be firm about the price you list, followed by some phone calls prior to the visits.

put in lots of good pictures and list it as with pictures, some people will not even look at a cragislist ad that has no pictures, and some have the firefox plugin that shows you the pictures with out having to click on the ad itself big time saver, so pictures are very important.

there are some sites online that are called storefront sites, and online malls you could search google, they let you set up little stores with in their "mall" so you get the customers that are drawn to the whole mall. There is one some friends of mine have used but I can not think of the name right now.

Homebound and Ravencajun - thanks. Since craigslist is free, I have run the ad a few times, but have had no inquiries. And I always do lots of pictures. I'm still a newbie with computers, but I have gotten fairly versed at selling through craigslist (and some on ebay). I've also posted it on a couple of neighborhood listservs I'm on (but I can't repeat those posts - and there were no inquiries again).

Thanks for the information about storefront site and online malls. Maybe that would work for me.
