Do you like your drop in cooktop with wall oven mounted beneath?
Comments (46)Can we agree nobody is right or wrong? That its only one of these 2 Bosch's docs that is correct, one incorrect since both clearly contradict each other 1) OVEN INSTALL says can be installed under *ANY* Bosch cooktop, just to allow 1" for inductive cooktops. No mention their 30" tops are excluded/ not approved. 2) COOKTOP SPEC says outright ovens are NOT appoved under 30" inductive cooktop. According to Bosch 800.944.2904, though, and their current documents, the SPEC sheet is correct stating30" are not approved to have ovens installed beneath, something to do with design differences between 30" and 36" inductive cooktops. Perhaps ovens were approved below 30" induction previously or maybe the 30" wasnt around when Bosch produced doc stating ovens okay under ANY cooktop including induction with 1" allowance....See MoreWall mounted kitchen faucet with 27 inch base cabinets -- too far?
Comments (1)#1 - I dunno. Kohler Karbons have a lot of reach so it should reach the faucet just fine. However, it might not reach to all corners of the sink or as far as you want. You would need to know the depth of the sink and the reach of the faucet to figure that out. You should be able to find that information. #2 - Again, I dunno. Your height, arm length and other personal anatomical features would determine that I suggest mocking up a counter 27" deep and leaning across it to see how far you can reach comfortably without straining....See MoreWall oven installed in cabinet box mounted on the wall
Comments (9)remodeling1840: The oven I want to install like this is a combi steam oven. The advice elsewhere on this forum is to not mount those under the counter, as tempting as it may be for space considerations, because when you open the door after using the steam or steam bake modes, a burst of steam comes out going more or less straight up! Aka, where your face is if you're stooping down to open an oven. D: A typical installation for this kind of oven is in a high cabinet, and we could do that, but it would be nice to have a passthrough space/landing zone under it. The normal space for a high cabinet is at the end of a run of counter, but that's already taken by the other wall oven. On the other end of the run of counter is the pantry cabinet and the refrigerator. We don't want to stack the ovens because that usually limits you to two ovens from the same brand and it would put one or both of the ovens too high or too low for comfortable use. As for space, we're not doing regular upper cabinets because my experience over the past 20-odd years has been that I hate working at countertops with wall cabinets over them and will go to some fairly extreme lengths to avoid doing so, so it's not displacing a wall cabinet. I'm fine with having the oven on the wall (edited to add: in spite of my declared dislike of wall cabinets) because I won't be using the area under it as a work surface, just as a landing zone. I suppose we could mount a single 24" wide wall cabinet there instead, but we'd still need somewhere for the combi steam oven. Mounting it under the counter would steal some of our precious, precious drawer space - we're doing a mostly or entirely drawer base cabinets kitchen. That's not accounting for the steam in face issue, which is another reason to not put it under the counter. We're working with a pretty constrained space and we care a lot about ergonomics/ease of use, which is why I'm looking at some out of the ordinary solutions....See MoreKitchen Layout planning to add wall mount oven
Comments (7)Only obvious spot for a wall oven in that plan is in the open area at the end of the sink wall. I don't see a separate pantry, so maybe use a pull-out or ROTS at the very end. I'd upgrade to a wider window if possible. Cooktop vent can go to the side if it can't go through the roof. If you plan to have a table in the nook, I agree that aisles are too narrow--skip seating overhang on island and move it toward the nook. Accounting for front overhang and back panel, you won't have a sufficient seating overhang, anyway, if the island is only 36" deep. NKBA recommends minimum 15" for comfortable seating, but you will have only 10-11"....See Moremayhem2008
