Comments (4)I'm not a fan of enamelled tops at all which deterred us from the Wolf. We just ordered a 36" DSC on Saturday. We won't be moving in our new home until end of March so won't be able to give you any experienced info on it. The salesman sold both Wolf and DCS and other higher end brands and said in his opinion the DCS was better than the Wolf. I didn't ask him to explain as we were in a hurry and decided long ago that we would be getting the DCS. DCS is also having a promotion, if you buy a 36" or larger range you get free dishwasher drawers. We are also excited to be getting those as well....See More36' drop in cooktop, dcs vs. dacor
Comments (7)I have recently installed a Dacor ER36D range and have had serious problems with the cooktop. The burners worked initially ( 2 days ), but after running a self-clean on the oven, the burners would not work. It has been almost a month and Dacor, the service company and the retailer where I purchased has been unable to resolve the issue. I am at the point where I am going to have to call the credit card company used for payment and demand satisfaction. I tried asking for a new unit to no avail thus far. The oven is electric and still functions and I realize that a self clean should have nothing to do with cooktop function. They tried replacing the regulator ( had to pull the range completely out to get to the back ). I just want to be able to cook my family a nice breakfast on Sunday mornings and have been unable to do so since we started our kitchen remodel in May. I hope Dacor steps up tomorrow ( Monday ) with a quick resolution. 3 Days of work missed to try to get this resolved so far. So much for investing in a quality piece of equipment....See More30 inch range vs. cooktop/wall oven vs. 36 inch range
Comments (1)I can answer the BS oven door question. My 36" BS RCS was installed two days ago (haven't used it yet, hopefully this weekend). During the burn off of the oven (high temp is 450 F for an hour) I checked how hot the oven door got, as that has been a big issue noted on these boards. On my range, the SS part of the oven door did not get hot, just a bit warm. The glass on the oven door got hotter but not that hot. What did get quite hot were the sides/edges of the oven door. I could touch the side but not for long. Definitely quite hot. Not instant burn/scald though. There are vents (or look like vents) right there so it makes sense that those areas heat up a lot. Your kids would have to press their hands up against the 2" side of the door for several seconds for it to affect them negatively. More likely a kid running around will touch the front of the door and that is not a problem, on my range at least....See More30 vs 36 inch cooktop
Comments (28)Just a few points. You don't need a window over the sink. Keep you corner windows and then do something like this for cabinets over the sink area. You're making this more complicated than it needs to be. cpartist and I both drew our fridges a few inches from the wall. I was anticipating that it would be understood that a cabinet would need to go there to allow the fridge door to swing fully open. I'm sure cpartist was, too. It's just hard to judge without good measurements and different fridges have different requirements for this. Having the door hinges on the left so the door swings toward sink/DW would not be recommended. Access would be clumsy. The difference between our suggestions is the wall oven. I wouldn't do it. The functional aspects of a wall oven would outweigh the decrease in your kitchen's aesthetics. It will create a big, bulky cabinet at the end of that run which will make your kitchen feel smaller and be darker due to blocking the light from the windows (doors?) to the left of the wall oven as well as blocking the corner windows. It ruins your long sight lines. Of course, your priorities might be different. I love the way light plays in a room and light makes me happy. It would be a worthy trade-off to me. May I suggest that if you must do a waist-height wall oven, that you don't take the cabinet to the ceiling. Maybe something similar to this shorter cabinet? It won't block all the light and won't be such a bulky hulk. See how the light still flows past the oven and creates an open visual line? So much nicer than a cabinet to the ceiling, imho....See MoreBeckyJoTX
