Java screw up?

Anyone updating java after 6 update 23, Java took away ability to c/p in chat rooms...bummer! anyone know a way around it? other then typing in entire link, have been searching to no avail, many ppl. peod over this developement...

Yes, we all know we can take our PC's backwards, but who want's to do that, especially on our new W7 PC's...not me, I keep all 4 of my PC's older or new updated always!

Reading through this info, I checked in Add/Remove to see what Java version I have. I had 5,6, and 9. I removed 5 and 6. Guess I'll go get 11. I think I remember getting the popup but wasn't sure about it so didn't take it. Forgot about it til I read this. Also I have a long list of Windows Updates and HotFixes in there. Can I just delete those? I check in here quite often and find help I didn't even know I needed. :) grandms, I have XP Media Center also. Quite a change from WIN98 for me. But I think I have it "trained" now. Sue

Just as our kids were arriving yesterday, my husband was taking the turkey out of the oven. The roaster pan was so full of drippings (I assume from the massive injection of creole butter) that it could not be removed from the oven without a huge mess. Personally, I would have used a baster to remove some of the 'juice' so it could be moved neatly but he streamed it all over the newly cleaned oven, across the floor and drenched the cabinet beneath the sink. What a mess to clean up with toddlers underfoot trying to greet grammy and pop pop!

Thanks, all. DH thought it was too dry, so this morning I added more mayo -- quite a bit more, actually. That seemed to do the trick. I didn't feel like cooking any more this morning, still have to make a batch of icing to make before heading out, so yea I took the lazy way out and hoped for the best LOL! I've made this recipe so many times, it always comes out great, so IDK why it ended up too dry, maybe it just wasn't a good cooking day I guess....

As a builder and remodeler for over 50 years, I think your contractor has already done much more than he or she needs to do to compensate you for your inconvenience. As a lawyer of 42 years standing (Cal. Bar #103603). I will tell you that you don't have a case. If another lawyer tells you otherwise, then beware. He or she is looking for a fee, not a win. Yours is a breach of contract dispute, not a tort. The damages for breach of contract are the actual cost of any harm done. That has already been paid. The contractor has remedied his or her error and paid any cost of doing so, including the cost of moving you out and back into your house. You have already been compensated for every dollar you would receive as damages in a breach of contract lawsuit. Your basic complaint seems to be that the contractor's error caused you a little inconvenience. Sorry about that, but inconvenience is not compensable in a breach of contract case. If it were compensable, then the $2,000 the contractor has offered is more than enough, your children's Christmas interruption notwithstanding.. You should take it and run before he or she changes his or her mind, and thank the stars you were smart enough to hire a reputable, ethical contractor in the first instance.

You asked for a way around it.

Work a rounds sometimes involve going backwards to get a particular function to work until the software writer creates a fix for the issue.

Have you tried downloading and installing Java7 (build 1.7.0-b147) released around July 28th?

I think the latest update prior to the release of Java7 was 1.6.26. You can download that at the link below.

Oracle, the developer of the Java programming language, released Java 6 Release 24 (Java 1.6.0_24) in February 2011 to remedy 21 vulnerabilities

As part of this security release, it appears that the ability to copy & paste from a computer's clipboard into a Java environment has been deemed a security threat, and therefore disabled.

That was to be taken care of by an up-date so maybe Java 7 will fix it.

You may consider running JavaRA and clear out all the old runtime Java files and reinstall Java,

I posted about problems with the new version on the original thread saying there was a new update. I left info on where to find a 3 page discussion on the problem and some options.
There are other problems related to the new version other than copy paste.

I updated to Java 6 Update 26. I got this message: Verified Java Version Congratulations! You have the recommended Java installed (Version 6 Update 26). Yet, when I went into my Control Panel and checked Java, it said I had Java 6 Update 24. Why isn't my computer recognizing the new update? Which version do I really have?

I have Win 7, btw.

If you need to stay with 1.6... 6u27 is latest. It has several bug fixes.
