I'm not really familiar with Yahoo mail but my guess is that the email address presented to you should be an alternate email you provided sometime in the past, to be used at a time like this. If that address is unfamiliar to you, I would fear that it was entered by a hacker. Maybe not but even if it wasn't, sending recovery info to an unknown address wouldn't do you any good. I wonder if Yahoo Customer Care would help you regain control? That or someone who's been through it before will come by and with a better answer. There's an image display setting for Yahoo mail accounts but there could also be something wrong with that day's email you got. There's no need to stomp your feet over it. To check the setting, click on the gear symbol in the upper right. Then Settings, then Security, then you'll see a dropdown giving you a few choices of whether or when to show email images. If it isn't something you do regularly or automatically, I think it's always a good practice to periodically clear your browser's cache. Settings, preferences, and other mischief can accumulate and cause unexpected behavior.

Jasdip you should definitely be using a more updated and more secure version of IE, or any browser for that matter, they are updated to eliminate security vulnerabilities. I have IE 11 on my windows 7 machines. I never use it but I keep it updated. I would suggest going to at least 10. You should be getting these as critical updates through your Windows updates, are you getting those updates monthly or as issued? They are very important. You can check through the windows updates in control panel.

I never use my Yahoo account. I only use the email address when I need to sign up for something that I don't fully trust not to sell my address to spam mail servers. It really helps to keep my gmail and ISP email accounts fairly clear of spam. So the above 'solution' was found after a google search. Looking through my own yahoo page, I also do not see this option, so it must be outdated. And I can't seem to find another option anywhere else. That said, I only have two emails saved in my contacts list, so apparently Yahoo has not been automagically saving new contacts for me. I will keep looking to see if I can stumble across a solution for you. Edit: And here is something I have found. Mouseover the Cog on the right upper side. Click 'Settings'. Click 'Writing Email'. Uncheck 'Automatically add new recipients to Contacts'. This sounds like it only saves emails in your contacts list if you respond to someone, not if you read their emails, but it might be worth a shot. Also, on the off-chance you have a virus that is sending out emails (and thus adding the contacts), check your Sent Mail to see if there is anything there that you didn't send.
