I had to use up some accumulated personal time so I am off today and of course the weather is bad; gloomy with rain. I took the time to download IE9. I started with my fully updated IE8 and downloaded IE 9 using it. I found no mandatory use of using IE as the portal, it just makes sense to do so. A small installer was first installed followed by the upgrade. A reboot was required. There was an extended delay upon restart as the files were being configured. Upon activation it operated quickly without concern. The ieSpell carried over along with Favorites. I also received a notification that a new Flash Player was available which I installed. Be sure to get the appropriate IE 9 version for your system. On the tagged page click on the arrowhead to the right of the English offering and select the proper download. When I went looking for info about Icon Restore, what I found indicated that it is old software no longer being updated by it's creator and does not work reliably on a 64-bit system (your win 7 is probably 64-bit but your XP computer was not). I had to go back to IE (which I almost never use) to discover that it does not HIGHLIGHT a spelling error in a forum post. Firefox does, which is one of several reasons why I don't want or need a toolbar. I have never needed a toolbar in a browser...they take up space unnecessarily, are confusing and not all that reliable and in general just a big pain. You would do well to learn to live without one, in my opinion. I suspect that spell check is in the toolbar...you just haven't found it yet. When you say saving the address...I think you mean saving the address of a web page in Internet Explorer... then you should enable the MENU BAR and learn how to add-delete-organize web pages in your FAVORITES MENU. Its called "spell check". No, it does not come on every internet browser but you can get one of many free programs to run that will check/correct spelling. I haven't got a free one. My spell check is on my Office program for work and I use Mozilla Firefox for browsing more oft than not. On my behalf, for my baby years, the only momento kept is my baby book and portraits. I'm glad I have the baby book. I can't think of any small-child items I wished she'd saved. The school things...she kept all our report cards, school pictures, and any paper certificates (ie spelling bee, attendance, citizenship, etc). As for the awards and any bulky items as we got older...my mom never managed those things for us. Those were our things and our responsibility to care for. If our rooms got too messy, dusty, or cluttered...we were told to be responsible for cleaning up & clearing out. If we didn't...they would. That was the rule, and they held to it. The threat was there, and neither my brother or I let anything get far enough for them to clear out for us. When our rooms would get full, and we didn't clear out things in a timely manner, there would come a point where mom would announce we didn't get anything new...nor were we allowed to buy anything new with our own money until other things were removed...meaning trash or burn pile. We made our own choices on what we tossed. That included our clothes when we got old enough to care about them. My parents held very firm to not aquiring anything new until room was made. Even went as far as telling relatives to give us birthday money...no items of any kind. No presents to unwrap on a birthday at certain ages is no fun! The lesson was our rooms have finite spaces, and when that finite space is taken up, you have to make choices on what stays, what goes, and what's useful for NOW...not yesterday. You are responsible for your own space. I still live today with the awareness of finite spaces and making the choice to be comfortable and cleared out. Gayle
