Semi Frameless Shower Door HELP!!!

We are finishing a master bath remodel in a 1960's ranch style home. I've lurked for months on this forum - and gotten many,many wonderful ideas. Now, I need some help and advice.

The last piece has been installing the shower door for the walk-in shower- we chose a semi-frameless, slider- because the space was so narrow. The shower opening is about 53" The GC recommended the installer and his product.

It was installed yesterday - and it doesn't seem right or very stable . Both doors shake and rattle when sliding open - and the entry opening ended up being a little less than 22" when the door is slid open - so it is easy to hit the door when entering - which then rattles etc. The glass is 1/4" thick. The handle serves as the stopper when sliding open the door - which causes the other door to shake and rattle It also leaks-which obvioualy will be addressed.

I am soooo upset. Of course, I am being told that this is the nature of semi-frameless, sliding shower doors. Is it? What are my optionsor alternatives?

We had semi-frameless sliders (bypass)installed a couple of month ago for the same reason you chose them--a very small space (5' by 8' bathroom).

They seem very stable and don't leak. Our installer declined to order 1/4 inch glass for us as he said it would be too thin and would flex/shimmy more than the 3/8 inch glass he recommended.

Interestingly, I have 2 showes, and one have the header and the other doesn't. The one with the header does not have any brackets on the side or the bottom. The one without has brackets on the side and the bottom to hold the glass. I was actually given a choice on this by the glass shop. They convinced me that without the mounting brackets, it is better for the steam shower to reduce the leak. I don't know if this is true or not. But even with the header, it was not too abtrusive. On the steam shower, I actually like it without the mount brackets.

after seeing that hardware, yes, it would explain the gap. what's going on here? this shouldn't be raised like that: those tracks and plastic will get gross and gunky within 6 months. (if this is used daily. ) I have a frameless and those plastic barriers are a pain to keep clean. within a year or so they harden and yellow. You have all the soft marble tile work, and those big bulky door sliders. the two don't work together. yours fits more of more masculine, industrial type of shower. (which you don't have) honestly, I'd have them rework it and give you a less obtrusive top rail. maybe like this one or just do frameless doors.

I finished a gut remodel recently and I have not regretted any of the money I spent for better aesthetics or increased functionality. in fact some of my regrets are not spending money on some stuff like chevron wood floors instead of my standard planks. And maybe i shoukd have gotten the blue butterfly granite in the guest bath. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ In my opinion, Showerguard is well worth the money as I don’t squeegee after every shower and my water is hard. The glass still looks great. And the frameless just subliminally makes my bathroom feel airier.
