Help with Pop-up New Window

I have begun getting occasional pop ups opening in a new IE window after McAfee Security Suite detected a trojan and deleted it. This occurs whether I am using IE or Firefox. Subsequent full scans by McAfee and Ad-Aware only find tracking cookies which are then deleted. FWIW, I did allow Adobe Photoshop Elements to make changes to my PC when prompted by McAfee about the same time this started. My son also downloaded a newer version of Adobe Flash Player about the same time. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you don't have the NoScript extension that might cure it in firefox.

It may be in your restore files. To get it out turn off System Restore, turn off the computer and reboot. Go back to System Restore and turn it back on.

Turning off the water and watching the meter won't tell you if you have a leak. Make sure all water is off in the house and then watch the meter for movement although a very small leak may take a while before it's reflected at the meter. You might want to do it before you go to bed (and make sure no one uses water overnight). Frankly, I'd suspect that the concrete wasn't sufficiently dry before the flooring was laid. Do you have any pipes that run through the concrete? Perhaps there is another issue unrelated to your ceiling leak?

Billie, here's how to add location and zone to your profile so it posts automatically with your name: Go to Your Houzz in the upper right of every page, click Edit Profile, and on the left side click advanced settings. Well down the advanced settings page is a blank labeled Climate Zone for Garden Forums along with a link to find your zone. If you add info on your state or the nearest large city you will get even better information since zone only relates to average coldest winter temperatures. Do you know what the pop up says, that may give a clue.
You say when using Firefox, a pop up will open using an IE window.

Yes, if McAfee Security Suite deleted it, it could have been in the restore files and just replicated itself.

I got rid of the problem yesterday after purchasing and running Spy Sweeper. Ad-Aware and Spybot failed to find the problem. It was adware (Telemunde?) that was causing he popups. It had gotten to the point that multiple windows would open when I tried to close the first one that opened. Most of them were ads for dating sites or anti-virus software. Thanks for the interest.

I keep getting a popup which says Systems alert. It is an add to buy a spyware and I cannot get rid of it or small icon on my taskbar. Any suggestions

Something to keep in mind when dealing with infected systems and using System Restore.

System Restore will not infect a system unless a 'restore point' is activated.

When trying to clean an infected computer wait till the system is clean of whatever it is you're trying to get rid of before purging system restore points.

In the case that you should do damage to your system - 'an infected system restore point is better than none at all'.
