Comments (5)Most definitely Fall Crocus. They'll be gone quick. Dig up the bulbs and plant them under a shady tree. No care needed and they're a great reminder that spring is close this time of year as you just found. They're often used for plant timing in gardens. Comments (9)Mark, most peonies have the red foliage when they first emerge in early spring. The leaves will gradually turn green. Determining the color of the blooms to come would be impossible at this stage. You are in for a delightful treat when they do bloom. :-) There is excellent growing information at the link below. Comments (9)I think I'd try digging first, that's pretty close to "good" plants. If you get a hole dug and still see root in it, then I'd do some boiling water, just right in the hole, slowly, steadily. You don't want to cook the other plants....See Morebilliewarrick
