Ad Aware 2007 disappeared

I know I installed Ad Aware 2007 a while back. It now appears to be gone. I had a shortcut to it on my start menu and it states it cannot be found. When I go to programs - Ad aware etc., all the folder icons (I guess that's what they are) are empty. Interesting how it disappeared.

I do run Spybot frequently so maybe I should forget about Ad aware, especially after reading other posts about it here.

Should I "uninstall" even though the folders are empty?

It is possible the short cut is not pointing to the program, Ad Aware 2007, the actuall program should have installed in c\Programfiles have you checked there?

Double click My-computer double click (local Disk) now look for the folder Program files, double click it look for Ad Aware there. You can right click and delete the folders to Ad Aware there to remove the folders.

Really only need one Anti- spyware program running most of us here are using SuperAntiSpyware brlow please find the link for the free version of that program...

maybe you deleted it and forgot? I would not worry about getting it I would instead use mainly the superantispyware it is better than adaware and spybot, but having more than one is fine, and running manual individual scans on a couple is good layered protection, In that case I would do 1st superantispyware 2nd spybot.

I have Ad-Aware SE Pro on one of my two computers, and I was able to update with a definitions file dated Jan 25th after having updated on the 8th. I didn't have to pay for this version (the computer guy who upgraded my computer from Win ME to XP put it on for free), so I don't know if it's at all possible for anyone to simply upgrade from SE Personal to Pro (if he/she prefers it to the 2007 version). Of course, I have no idea how long I'll be able to update my SE Pro edition. Perhaps its days are numbered, too ! :-O

Ad-Aware 2007 Free is a solid post-infection tool. If you don't want to pony up the money to purchase real-time protection with Ad-Aware Plus or Pro. Just a note & not sure if it was covered don't be under the impression that the free version is going to run and protect you. You will need to run the scanner manually to benefit from it.

You should request a full refund Luis LOL If you are that impressed with a good, free program simply remove it and use another program. There is plenty of choice.

Below are the 2 links grandms suggested for you. Please get an anti virus program installed sudden like, then instantly look for updated definitions followed by a full scan to give you peace of mind. Why are you concerned about what nasties AdAware finds? Surely it is better to accept that it is doing an excellent job - as long as you look for updates often and runs scans. Simply click to have them removed, breath a sigh of relief and then enjoy other aspects of your computer. I could not find how many nasties AdAware protects against but just for interest here are some others Spybot Search & Destroy - 30,789 Spywareblaster - 8086 AVG anti malware - 877,760 and I run all 3 of those. I used to use AdAwareSE but when I upgraded to AdAware2007 I found it suddenly became a huge resource hog so I removed it. I went through the steps you suggested Zep but there is no Adaware in the program files. Thank you for giving me those steps! I find it interesting that it just disappeared. I don't know how I would have deleted it but I guess nothing is impossible.

I will continue to use Spybot which I'm comfortable with and add the Super Antispyware you advise also.
