Yes, you will need to install the new network (ethernet) adapter before the local area network connection will show up.

If the ethernet plug is up between the usb connections does that mean it's not a stand alone ethernet but goes throught the motherboard?

I thought you had a new ethernet adapter? Lots of computers do have an onboard ethernet adapter (built into the motherboard) but if you installed a new one, it should be plugged into one of the PCI slots on the motherboard. I have not heard of the term standalone in relation to an ethernet adapter, but I don't get out much ;-)

I do have a new ethernet adapter still in the box. I was just wondering if i could use it on this computer even though it has on onboard ethernet or if i just need to download drivers for the ethernet that's already in the computer. Don't mind me on the standalone didn't know what else to call it. lol

I would try the drivers for the onboard adapter before even installing the new adapter. You may not even need the other adapter. It could just be disabled..if so, right click on the adapter with the question mark and left click on enable...that may do the trick.

The yellow ? means there is a device problem. Click on it to see if you can see what the problem is. Sometimes, deleting the device from device manager, then rebooting will cause it to reinstall drivers and resolve conflicts.

Got the drivers installed an up and running. Back on internet like suppose to be. Shut it down last night, proper way, and now this am it won't come on. Zada, zip,nothing. Won't even try coming on. Push start up button and there's nothing. no fans running or anything. Thought maybe something was wrong with plug so hooked up other computer and it started fine. What did i do wrong this time?

I am sure you did nothing wrong! Try unplugging the ethernet cable and see if it will start up. Maybe the reason that adapter had a question mark is because the device itself has a problem. If it starts up, you may get a blue screen error stating that Windows did not start properly. Just shut it down again (you'll have to press the power button)then press the button again to start it up. As soon as you see something on the monitor, tap the F8 key repeatedly to get to the advanced startup screen. Arrow down until you have Last Known Good Configuration selected and press the Enter button on the keyboard. This should allow you to start up the pc.

The computer is not even powering up. Like it's not getting any power except when i open the case there's a little orange bulb burning but nothing else. Fans-nothing

Patches is the small LED light on the motherboard? I suspect it is so you have power. Now perhaps when you were moving the computer and doing your thing you may have switched it off on the rear of the case. Look on the rear very near where the power cord hooks into the computer and you may see a black rocker type switch. See if you accidentally turned that off. Do not change the little red switch which is recessed and hard to get at as that converts from 115 volts to 230 volts for Europe. Some factory made computers do not have this switch, yours may or may not have it.
