IE 8 home page

Downloaded IE8, using WindowsXP. I set Google as my home page but everytime I turn off my pc then turn on again, at boot up I see a little window saying "loading personalized settings". It goes real fast, then when I open IE8 and MSN Bing is my homepage again. Never had a problem keeping homepage with IE7. Checked IE8s help and I did the homepage change as stated but how do I change it in this "personalized setting" thing that loads on boot-up?

From the Tools menu>Internet Options>General tab, what is listed as your home page? Is there more than one home page listed? If yes, delete the one(s) you don't want, then close IE8 and restart. Are you the administrator on this computer?

with the page you want as your homepage open on your IE(have it the ONLY page open) go to the Options>general tab as mentioned above, in the options it should say select current page, since you will be on the page you want, use that option and then check back in that blank to see if it changes it to that page.

You can also try to rid yourself of BING and its mess, look in the control panel add remove programs.
To hide it:
Right click an empty area on the toolbar area and uncheck lock the toolbars, then right click again and uncheck the bing toolbar, relock the toolbars.

From what I can find using Google, it appears that starting with IE8 there is no default email client set up. With no email client set up, the send page or send link will be greyed out till you go to control panel and select the default email client. HTH. Terry

I would try: Clear the IE cache>Manually type in and enter the site desired>Set the current page as the homepage. I normally use FF with my Vista. However, when I do tinker with IE9 it will report as to blocked sites, expired certificates, and such. It's no big deal as far as I am concerned. What's one click? DA

clearing the cache on IE has nothing to do with firefox you must clear them in firefox also, are you using the latest version of firefox? to know the version at the top click on help and about firefox. To clear the cache in firefox look under tools and see if you have an option there that says clear recent history near the bottom of the list, if yes click that and a box opens asking what all you want to clear I clear everything but the site preferences on mine also at the top of that box is a time range with a drop down arrow you can choose everything. The other way to do it is go to Tools Preferences/options then the security tab check where it says clear history when firefox closes then over to the right click on settings in that box select what you want to clear you can then close firefox and open it and it will clear all that you selected, now if you do not want it to do that every time you close firefox go back in there and un check to do it every time firefox closes, or just select for it to clear the cache each time it closes which is what I do. I agree with Bob414 it sounds like you have that page set to always open in IEview in your firefox browser you have to change that setting or it will continue to do that.

Along AZ's thought as there is always more than one way to do things with Windows/IE, on the IE Toolbar to the right is a listing showing a small house icon named Home. It is for returning to your homepage. Next to the icon is an arrowhead. Click on the arrowhead. A drop down menu will appear with options, one of which is to remove entries. If there is an entry for Bing please remove it.
