It looks kinda like a Faber. I've been looking for a puppy (sort of) on Craigslist and I have come to the opinion that many CLers can mangle the name of something obvious so badly as to be unrecognizable.

I wonder if a store could have rebranded it.

I love to use AJ Madsion as a research site cause their filters are so good. Maybe they did mangle the name. It's a common contemporary looking hood but not many manufactures make it in a 42". Tons and tons in 36", even less expensive ones on ebay (which may be a fall back) but hard to find at at reasonable price in a 42".

Hmm. I guess it's a little bigger than that cooktop. I missed the 42" part! (I don't think I could pass code with outlets so close to the cooktop here, but I digress.)

"Felmac" sounds like a camp Sci-Fi word. I wonder if it's this Kuppersbusch, which has lines that are very close and a name that's hard to remember:

All those resemble it closely and I'd be delighted if it turned out to be like that. If this guy gets back to me, then we it may pay to take a drive down to So. Miami to take a look (about 45 minutes away). I'm a little skeptical cause I've been doing nothing but research for 2 years while waiting for this remodel and I've never heard of it. I thought maybe he meant Fagor or Faber but neither are close really

The suspense is killing me. Kitchen remodeling is really affecting me if this is an exciting mystery! You'd better report back. I do want to know! I don't know why, but I DO! :)

Looking again, I don't think it's that particular Kuppersbusch because I just noticed the lights. The K has the two front to back in the middle, and in the CL photo they seem to have a horizontal spread. The K had the silliest name and the most oval part under the canopy. I'm not sure the rails are on the sides, either.

This is the correct link for Zephyr at AJMadison which I'm thinking more and more looks most like it, though it's hardly different from a number of other brands. There's probably a lot of rebranding going on out there.

What I found out when I was looking is that these are generally listed as "island" hoods because of the ducting, even though they're the correct depth to be wall hoods. There actually seem to be a lot of similar ones that are 42" that start at about $1100 and go up from there to the $3000 range.

I agree with Fori about the manual. But yeah, it might be worth the drive, especially if you have other things you can do in the area or on the way to make the outing worthwhile no matter the outcome.

There is a company that makes hoods named Falmec. They are not well known in the US. I ran into this company when I was looking for the manufacturer of two hoods, one that ValCucine sells as the Libero and another by Bulthaup. They were the manufacturer of the hood. If I remember from my research, they were an Italian company. The ones I was interested in were the Adara and the Diamante!

Looking at the picture, are you sure that is not a 36" cooktop? The hood and cooktop look like the same size. I have never seen the curved glass hood larger than 36". It does not mean that it does not exist but I have not seen one. Miele used to make a hood that looked like that and it was 36".
