oh cool THANKS !!!!! i can read the new one... very top ... is that 3 P. p. hoopsi??? dont see a scale.. but take a gander at the 3 pics below ... that was a one gal.. one foot hoopsi in 2003 .... the first pic is 2005 .... the second 2007 .. and the last is 2008 .... the darn things are weeds .... the trick is to go the the ACS site.. and find annual growth rates ... which on hoopsi should be about 18 inches.. and then base your spacing on such .... i just dont see how 3 hoopsi .... on your map ... wait.. i just looked again .. under 57' is one giant hoopsi .. and 3 waterfalls or something???? if so ... ignore the above... lol the point.. if i have one.. is to overspace your plants.. rather than jamming them in for immediate gratification.. especially in regard to conifers and trees ... and avoid powerlines with things with big potential ... over on the left.. you seem to have a rather small space for a sweetgum... is there a dwarf cultivar .. if not... it will be rather aggressive .... regardless.. again its all about annual growth rates .. i also see a french drain on the right .... are those plants chosen for water acceptability???? you also have a P strobus pendula... right next to the patio .... google the latin.. you might find some 50 footers .... you might want to look into a smaller weeper like mugo uncle fogey its all about growth rates.. instant gratification.. and the willingness to admit mistakes 5 or 10 years down the line.. when you have no other option than to remove something you paid a lot of money for.. because it is swallowing up a path.. a patio ... or green grass ... while at the ASC site ... look for the tutorial about the classifications of mini, dwarf intermediate and large plants .... Hi colo_lady! We're remodeling my husband's bathroom. Mine was done in 2007. Do I still love my kitchen? I do. There are things I would have done differently had I had time to learn more and discover I had more of a selection. It was the one remodel (and as of now we've redone every room in the house) that was unplanned (hot water heater leak). So I didn't have the luxury of time. The one thing we didn't change in the kitchen was the cabinets. After DH's bathroom and the house is paid for (again) next year, I'm hoping we can reface the kitchen cabinets. Also in 2007 we removed the wall between the kitchen and LR and turned the LR into a large dining room and added a peninsula between the two rooms. LOVE that!!! GW is a wealth of knowledge but man oh man, if you're an over analyzer like me, you can spend HOURS and HOURS at a time, ignoring everything and everyone (LOL) Do you know if Bill is still around? I've been back on the forums for at least 3 months and haven't come across any of his posts (except this one started back in 2008).

Congrats on learning Excel. It's almost a never ending process though once you've got the basics down it becomes much more understandable. I took quite a number of Excel course levels prior to my retiring and I always enjoyed them. I had one spreadsheet that was so detailed and interconnected to hundreds of pages of data and hidden macros I was always afraid to let anyone touch it in case they ruined something LOL Therefore the biggest TIP... always always always hit the SAVE button every once in awhile as you work just in case. AND when you're done ALWAYS make a duplicate copy of the whole spreadsheet and keep it in a file under your name separate from the main file, just in case. Nothing worse than finding your work lost or wrecked. But being smart you have "your backup" LOL Regarding keeping genealogy/historical data I'm thinking that Excel isn't exactly the best program for that. Microsoft Access is more geared to sorting, sifting and printing documentary data whereas Excel is more for numerical data. The better part of Access is that data entry is much simpler, you create a "form" with fill in the blanks and just type away the name, date, birthplace, year, etc and it magically compiles it all for retrieval however you want it. With Excel you have to go filling in all those little boxes on the spreadsheet. I highly recommend taking the MS Access course as well.

Unfortunately, once a thread drops off the list it never comes back to the list. If it's a thread that's had a post since at least late-2007 and you've bookmarked it, you can link to it directly. Anyone who's bookmarked it and retrieves it can post to it, but it still won't jump back onto the list. The post will be there, but the thread is still missing in action! So, my advice to you and everyone else is...if you want to save a thread for later reference, bookmark it or save it to your local machine! One caution: If someone deletes or moves their pictures that were posted in the thread and you only bookmarked it, you will lose those pictures when you retrieve the thread later. To be sure you save everything, you really need to save the thread to your machine. Note that later posts won't show up in the saved thread b/c you've saved it at a specific point in time. Future posts won't be there...but, you can always re-save it. Once you save the thread to your machine, all pictures are saved with it. How do you do this? There are a couple of ways that most people use. Saving the thread "as is" from your browser: From Firefox: Go to the Menu Bar (File Edit View History Bookmarks Tools Help) Click File Select Save Page As... The file name will default to the msg#.html (in the case of this message, it defaults to msg0322471215999.html) Click the Save button In Internet Explorer: Go to the Menu Bar (File Edit View Favorites Tools Help) Click File Select Save As... The file name will default to the - Kitchens Forum - GardenWeb.mht (in the case of this message, it defaults to Buehl, Q for you re missing posts - Kitchens Forum - GardenWeb.mht) Click the Save button Note: In both cases you can save to a different File Type by clicking the "Save as type" drop down menu and selecting another type. Saving the thread in an MS Word document or similar: Open a new/empty MS Word (or other) document Select the entire thread using one of the following: Click the keys [Note: This will select the entire page, including the GW header & footer.] ......OR...... Using the mouse, select whatever part of the thread you wish to save by clicking & dragging. I usually start with the subject line of the Original Post and drag to the end of the last post. Copy the selection by using the keys Paste what you just copied into the MS Word (or other) document [Note: In most Microsoft products, the paste keys are ] Save the document using whatever name you like [Note: In MS Word, click File and select Save As...] A note about much older threads....
