I have win xp professional and cannot find a listing of cookies anywhere,back in win 98 days there was a folder containing all the cookies that you could go through and delete any that you did not want,is this available in xp and how do you gain access to it? Thanks

You can do a system file search and the report will show were any cookie folders are located on your system. Clicking on any appearing entry will open up that location.

START>Search>All Files and Folders>"Cookie" in the top bar (sans the quotes)>Search button.

Your question aroused my curiosity. Upon Googling it I found XP has a cookie folder in C:\\Documents and Settings\Owner. I was shocked to see hundreds of text documents listed in my folder written in computer language. I couldn't understand any of it! :) I delete the cookies regularly from my Temporary Internet Files and am puzzled as to why this folder is so full.

Have any of you tried Oreo Cookie Balls yet? My husband brought me one home that someone at his office made. It was so good! I plan to make them for our holiday party this year. They sound very easy to make. Only three ingredients and no baking. If any of you are familiar with chocolate wafer ice box cake these work on the same principle. 1 pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened 36 OREO Cookies, finely crushed (about 3 cups) 4 pkg. (4 oz. each) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, broken into pieces, melted MIX cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended. SHAPE into 48 (1-inch) balls. Freeze 10 min. Jessica and Ann, I was thrilled to be able to do more this year. While I had to take breaks from the standing tasks and did what ever I could sitting down, last year at Christmas I was exhausted after walking from the dining table to the buffet area, putting some food on my plate and walking back to my chair. The most dramatic improvements happened after mid-June. It wasn't until then that I began to feel so much more like myself. I am very thankful to everyone who has helped and encouraged me. We had a lovely Christmas day - about 18 of us and tons of food, Christmas soup with endive, chicken, tiny meatballs and Parmesan croutons, salads, Italian roast beef, manicotti with home made crepes, lasagna, sausage and meatballs in sauce. Directly swap the amount of all-purpose flour called for with the same amount of Measure for Measure flour: No need for additional specialty ingredients. Works beautifully in your favorite recipes, whether you’re substituting just a few ounces of conventional flour or several cups. Grainlady's soapbox: The biggest drawback with most of the all-purpose gluten-free blends --- rice flour being the main ingredient. I wouldn't recommend using large amounts of rice flour for anyone, and especially children, due to the arsenic associated with it; and nearly all gluten-free flour blends and commercial gluten-free foods contain rice flour. The brown rice flour I do use I make myself in order to reduce the amount of arsenic in it by rinsing, soaking, sprouting (which includes more rinsing), dehydrating the sprouted grain, and milling it into flour myself. With that much work involved, you use it sparingly. After a 10-day detox from all grains at the first of the year, I soon realized how other grains, even gluten-free grains, still affect your wellbeing. They initiate inflammation and auto immunity. Phytates block nutrient absorption, and oats contain higher levels of phytates than almost any other grain - unless you know how to soak and prepare them to reduce the phytates. Going gluten-free and maintaining your health is more challenging than just "going gluten-free." Especially with all the commercial gluten-free choices now, and most are really just more junk food - without the gluten. Just realized the recipe I posted was for the white (vanilla) half moons. These are the original chocolate half moons! COOKIES 3 3/4 c all purpose flour 3/4 tsp baking powder 2 tsp baking soda 2 1/4 c granulated sugar 1 c butter, cubed 3/4 c cocoa powder, sifted 1/4 tsp salt 2 lg eggs 1 tsp pure vanilla extract 1 1/2 c milk FROSTING - CHOCOLATE 3 1/2 oz bittersweet chocolate 3 1/2 oz semi-sweet chocolate 1 Tbsp butter 4 1/3 c confectioner's sugar 2 Tbsp corn syrup 1 tsp pure vanilla extract 1 pinch salt 1 c boiling water FROSTING - VANILLA 7 c confectioners' sugar 1 c butter, cubed, room temp 1/2 c vegetable shortening 7 Tbsp milk 1 Tbsp pure vanilla extract 1 pinch salt Directions 1. Preheat oven to 350°. 2. Sift together flour, baking powder, and baking soda in a medium bowl and set aside. 3. Put sugar, butter, cocoa and salt in bowl of mixer and beat on medium speed until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla and continue to beat. Add half the milk, then half the flour mixture, beating after each addition until smooth; repeat with remaining milk and flour mixture. 4. Spoon or pipe batter onto parchment-lined baking sheets, making 3'' rounds 2'' apart. Bake until cookies are set, about 12 minutes. Allow to cool, then remove from parchment. 5. Frosting - Chocolate: Melt chocolates and butter in the top of a double boiler over simmering water over medium heat. Add confectioners’ sugar, corn syrup, vanilla, salt and 6 tbsp. boiling water - mix to a smooth, stiff paste with a rubber spatula. Thin icing with up to 8 tbsp. more boiling water. Icing should fall from a spoon in thick ribbons. Keep warm in a double boiler over low heat. 6. Frosting - Vanilla: Put sugar, butter, shortening, milk, vanilla and salt in a bowl. Beat on low speed to mix, then increase to medium and beat until light and fluffy. 7. Using a metal spatula, spread about 1 tbsp. of warm fudge icing on half of the flat side of each cookie. I have regular XP I go to Explorer and go to tools (top bar) and then internet options and then look in Settings that is where my cookies are (I use AOL) I don't know if this is any help

If you have only one user account on Windows XP or Windows 2000 then replace with Administrator to get the paths.

If you have Windows Me, Windows 98, Windows NT or Windows 95 then cookie folder is in one of these locations:
C:\Windows\Cookies\
C:\Windows\Profiles\\Cookies\

Note that on your computer the Windows directory may not be C:\Windows but some other directory. If you don't have Profiles directory in you Windows directory don't worry - this just means that you are not using user profiles.

In these folders you can see all persistent cookies that are saved to your user account. The names of the cookie files are in form username@hostname. For example the cookie name administrator@altavista[2] is showing that this cookie came from www.altavista.com and the current computer user was administrator. You can also open the cookie file to see its content but it most cases it will be encoded and not human readable.

WARNING! Even if you delete all cookie files from this folder most of the information for the cookies will not be deleted because it is saved in so called index.dat file. In some cases you can see the index.dat file in the cookie folder but even if you can not see it be sure that it is there. You can not delete this file because Windows and Internet Explorer use it all the time. The only way to get rid of the cookies for good is to shred the content of the index.dat file with a specialized privacy protection program

How to delete cookies?

You can delete cookies by deleting all text files in the cookie folders on your computer. The locations of cookie folders are given above.

Note that you can turn off the cookie support from your browser but this is not a good idea because most of the sites today require cookie support in order to work properly. After you delete all cookies you will have to enter your user name, password and other details every time when you visit a web site that needs registration and some sites may not work at all. Another good reason to keep some of the cookies is to avoid being suspicious when others notice that your cookie folders are always empty.

Even though I did post on this thread, your pleasure of achievement is one of the reasons I don't fall all over myself trying to post on every thread. I personally like to see others participate in the process. This is particularly true of newer members who have learned in the recent times and now have the opportunity to share their new found knowledge with others.

Oh, by the way so I do not sound all knowing. Do I feel like I have all the answers? Of course not.
