There's no turning back now! X Post from Kitchen Forum

Since I'm not going to be doing much cooking for a week, I figured I'd show you guys and gals what I will be doing... We tore out the kitchen yesterday!!!! EEEK!

Today was day 2 of our kitchen renovation. We spent a day last weekend putting in the recessed lights and starting some of the new electrical runs for undercabinet lights and such. Not much "visible" progress made other than cans that weren't completely wired in. Today, we have lots of visible progress as it was demo day! My dad and a friend from work came over to help out and the four of us (with my dh) got a lot done. We're down to the sub-floor, the soffits are out and we finished up all the wiring, not a bad day's work.

One of the best things that happened today was that my husband put the range, dishwasher, sink/faucet and cabinets on craig's list as soon as we were sure we could get them all out without damage. Within an hour, we had several calls and before lunch a very nice gentleman came by. He was initially looking at the range, but he asked "how much for everything?" and ended up taking it all! I was so excited that he was going to be able to use everything in the house he just purchased! The cabinets will be going into his workshop and the appliances will help complete his kitchen. While not quite as philanthropic as freecycling, I think he got a great deal and he seemed very excited about it.

So tomorrow we'll patch the drywall, the mud/tape guy will come early next week, and next weekend my uncle is coming up with the cabinets and the granite (he was VERY kind and agreed to make all my cabinets and get the granite through his distributors at a very good price)! Hopefully I'll only be a member of the "doing dishes in the bathroom" club for a little over a week, wish me luck!

Thanks for tolerating my enthusiasm, can you tell I'm excited? :)

Tonight (sorry for the pic, it's hard to get a good shot of the whole kitchen with the plastic blocking the entry to the dining room. I just can't get the angle to work out)
