Smaller Electric Dryer Recommendation
Comments (2)Roper is another Whirlpool brand, not GE. GE has a nice 24"w dryer now (this one), as does Bosch. GE also has some less expensive, stripped-down 24" dryers, some with the controls below the door for easy reach when stacked over a washer. IIRC, these don't have a moisture sensor so the automatic timer doesn't work all that well. LG has the largest capacity 24" dryer I'm aware of, but I think it's only available as a ventless (condensation) dryer (as are the Bosch and GE). Miele is high-quality, high-price. Asko is decent. Whirlpool's cheap one (with the lint filter in the back) is awful; they also have another (with the glass door & stainless steel drum) that's completely different, made in one of their overseas plants, that's somewhat better and still affordable. If a 27" dryer will fit, Frigidaire makes some with front controls that are the smallest 27"w dryers available, and are fairly inexpensive). I also have an old GE dryer which has the same timer problem. It shuts off just before the cool-down period is supposed to start, which is the last 10 minutes or so....See Moreshutting down computer
Comments (24)I have some of my towers under the desk on small pedestals and some on top of the desk, I have a ceiling fan in the room that usually is on except in the dead of winter and under the desk I have a small fan that runs circulating air around those towers at all times, it can get warm under that desk and the fan does help keep air moving. My husband uses his laptop all day long at work, he puts it in the docking station when he gets there in the morning and it stays there and on and running till he comes home at night unless he has a meeting to take it to, but it gets good air flow being on the desk and in the docking station. I think if a laptop caught fire like that it had a serious over heating problem, if it did not have it's vents blocked. I know a lot of bad batteries in laptops have caused fires. they do make laptop bases that have additional fans built in them to help keep them cool....See MoreIs this a good price for GE Harmony washer/dryer?
Comments (18)When I went to Lowes to check out the cost of their Harmony set - I had just been to the only place in town that actually had a set on the floor - RC Willey. Luckily I had the salesperson there jot down their price (it was on sale) on their sales card instead of just on a piece of paper from my purse. This is what the sales person at Lowes needed to price match. Unfortunately I didn't know about the match +10% policy they (used to?) have. Lowes here never said it was special order...just that they don't keep in stock on floor and have to get from their warehouse which is located elsewhere. When the sales person called for permission to price match - she told me she had to fill out a form with details which they previously never had to do. She was agitated with Lowes upper management because she said in this economy you would think they would do as much as they can to make a sale and keep a customer ... she's right. Anyway, she got the ok and actually they matched the price that RC Willy had written down that also contained the GE mail in discount amount - 5% I believe. I did go to Lowes mainly because of all the positive comments on this forum -- and there's something a little 'off' about RCWilley - can't put my finger on it. But I'm glad they had the GE Harmony on the floor so I could actually look at it -- even Sears here doesn't display it. When I read what your sales person said....I wonder if he's just trying to get a few more $ out of the sale...I understand HD sales people aren't on commission, but don't know about Lowes. Only downside is that I've had to wait 2 weeks for delivery -- I missed the cutoff date but they'll be here this Thursday. I'll write a review after I try them out a few times. So thankful to all on this forum and to That Home Site for being able to read about others experiences. Have a great day!...See MoreLG Electric Dryers, no heat? Try this first...
Comments (16)I have the LG DLG2251W and this has been an ongoing problem. They sent me a brand new dryer - had a repair guy come out and he couldn't figure out why it wouldn't dry my clothes. He replaced the motherboard. Came back a second time because it still wouldn't dry my clothes (maybe 50% of the time it would work), and he couldn't figure it out again. So they gave me a brand new dryer. Same problem. All my ducts are brand new. There are no obstructions. THIS IS AN LG DESIGN FLAW. Google "lg dryer spins but no heat" on you tube and the guy explains how to reset the overheat sensor / safety sensor. You probably don't need a new thermostat. I can't believe I have to take apart my machine to find a safety sensor to reset it every time I have this problem (I have yet to figure out where it can be located on my model)... on a $1,000.00 machine. I have a cottage with a $300 Kenmore dryer. Guess how many problems I have with that machine? Nada. None. Zilch. Wanna throw a dry piece of clothing in your LG dryer for a few minutes to get the wrinkles out? hahahaha so funny, think again. Sensor or manual setting, heat does not work. LG seriously needs to fix this problem. I have no problem with their washing machines, but I would never buy an LG dryer again. A waste of money when you consider the HOURS I spend attempting to dry a single load of laundry. What a waste of electricity (on a gas dryer) and money down the drain on a piece of garbage. I can only imagine how much $$ repair guys are making off of these machines that have an obvious design flaw. Avoid LG dryers AT ALL COSTS. The problem isn't specific to any model, it's all their dryers....See MoreJumpilotmdm
