Our such great ideas guys! Stacey your work is amazing. It's easy to see you have a lot of experience with this type of thing in addition to being very creative! You had so many great ideas I wish you had numbered them so I could tell you which ones I liked :) I do love the one with the closet access from the bedroom. That is such a neat idea. The one that you came up with in the last post and the one that is almost exactly what Cori described really sounds like a grand option. It opens up the space so much and like everyone is saying, a beautiful bathroom space is probably more valuable sq. footage than an office. I do prefer having the WC in it's own room. It really makes the bathroom seem much more clean and tidy, in addition to making the closet in the bathroom seem more welcoming. Maybe we can do a little pocket door into the closet to provide some space. To answer some questions, the vertical wall on the left goes to the interior of the house, as do all walls except for the wall wear the window is. I agree if the closet was slightly soffetted it could allow for high shelving. We could keep a few items that our out of season there and it could potentially look as if it was done like that on purpose. I really like the third picture you posted too. It is a really nice layout with a nice size closet and a semi-private WC. But the last one is definitely the most attractive! I will certainly have to think on that one and let you know! Jslzart, I see what you mean, but as we are in the middle of nowhere, we’ve got slim pickings on who to hire. Plus, all of the GCs I used to know (my FIL included) have moved or passed away in the last 20 years, so I feel like I’ve got to go into this with some of my own knowledge, ideas, and creativity or I’m just going to get the same starter-home set-up as the next guy.

It looks like you have a lot of dead vertical space that can be captured. The clear drawers that bpath O Sophie suggests come in different sizes that can be stacked and labeling them is a game changer for finding things fast and staying organized. I find them more convenient than boxes that have to be unstacked, lids opened, etc. and since they're modular, you can swap out as your storage needs change. http://www.sterilite.com/ProductCategory.html?ProductCategory=19 is one brand. If you go that route, measure and take into account the door casing to make sure drawers can be opened all the way. and look at different configurations. The space left over on the right side can be used as a place to stack toilet paper, rolled towels, nesting the buckets, etc. Use the best location(s) for what you use the most. Place infrequently used items on the shelves hardest to reach. Of course, with little ones, the meds & cleaning products need to be stored out of reach. I also agree with suggestions for hanging a rack on the door, it's surprising how much can be stored there. The Container Store has great products and organization ideas for inspiration. Sometimes I splurge on them or look for similar products at discount stores, keeping in mind that square or rectangular maximize storage more than rounded containers. Post pics when you're finished - you may help us out with a thing or two!

Personally, I don’t see any problem with having a walk in closet off of master bath. In fact, I like the idea... super convenient. As long as it is within your area’s building code guidelines, I don’t see why it would be an issue, or why you would feel you need validation for this idea (?). People take entire rooms of their existing houses to convert to custom closets, and most folks don’t view that as being odd. I don’t view it as being odd either, btw; and even if I did view it as being odd, it wouldn’t really be my business - since it’s not my house. As far as ‘’making things easier‘’ for your husband goes, though - I hope these extra modifications do work the way you intend, and that he doesn't just forego the closet - and throw his stuff on the bathroom floor!
