Canadian Waterbombers to California

I saw on the news last night that the Vancouver Island based Martin Mars water bombers are heading south to help out with the California fires.

I thought they would probably be called upon because these giants are awesome to see and hear when they are active on the lake where we stay on central Vancouver Island. The sound fills the ear with a deafening roar and if you are in a boat when they are skimming across the water, filling up their tanks, they create an enormous backwash. My grandkids get so excited when my brother drives the boat close because the waves that rock our boat are what they call "fun" while I'm hanging on for my life.

These old planes are from World War II and have been in service for many years helping to fight B.C. forest fires.

This is a zoomed image below. We're not so foolhardy as to get that close when they are filling up LOL!

I know they will do their part to help save some of the California nature and the homes of so many people who are threatened. We are watching this terrible firestorm from over here on the other side of the Atlantic and hoping with everyone else that it can be put under control as soon as possible.

Here's a YouTube video of one of the planes demonstrating on the lake where we stay.
