Thanks raven. I looked at the first link you provided and I don't see anything that resembles what I had. So I still have a question. As I recall what popped up on my screen was something that looked like it came from Microsoft, said the computer was infected with a virus, and warned not to shut the computer off. It told me I should click to start the antivirus program. The first time it happened--when I fell for it--I assumed that it would run Windows Defender. My question is, then, does Microsoft ever do this? That is, if indeed I get a virus in the midst of searching the web, is there ever a legitimate Microsoft warning that pops up telling you not to shut the computer down and to click to run a scan? If not, then there's no problem with trying to find out what's legit and what is not. With whatever I got it was truly hard to tell. Thanks!

BTW, my computer is an HP h8-1120 2.00 running 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium. I ran Super Antispyware and Microsoft Security Essentials and Malware Bytes and no threats showed up. I turned the computer off for 4 hours; rebooted; and still have the same issue.

very true if you change it then you are degrading the quality of the actual picture, if she wants the high quality to print you need to send full size and she needs to use that image. However those images will be a large size file so will take much longer to go in email and will be large in her inbox, if any of you use dial up it will be slow doing it that way. I use one of the power toys by Microsoft that will allow you to just right click on any picture you have on your pc and select resize from the list and there it gives you choices as to the size, it then creates a new copy of your picture in that size. Kath, glad you got your email back. About Firefox 10.0.2. Is that what you had, or did you update it along with Thunderbird? Wondering what caused your problem. I don't know whether to get the update or not. I'm sure Alex will do well on the test. OJ, I had that same problem with Gmail. I use Yahoo now. There is a definite Love-Hate relationship with our computers. Sue
