We're doing SW Kilim Beige right from the start in the family room and a few other rooms. I did accent walls with specified colors for some rooms, but we're getting new furniture in the Family Room & Living Room shortly after we move in, and I'm not settled on just what I want in those rooms yet.

I had NO intentions of doing "contractor white" even on a short term basis. ICK!

go out and buy a few different colors in quart sizes and paint a 4 or 5' square of each color in the room. you can paint samples on each of the four walls. live with it for a few days and see what you like. they'll all look different depending on the time of day. you CANNOT see actual color from a 2" square. GL!

I second Kates suggestion, you can't judge what it will look like in your house by what it looks like in others. Also, these monitors distort color pretty good sometime so for sure don't go by what people post as being the 100% true color. I will add one thing to Kates suggestion and that is to put the chips at different levels in the room also and make sure to put one in the lightest corner and one in the darkest corner.

Before I learned all the painting tricks I wasted about $100 dollars on paint that I bought because I first of all bought a gallon, then came home and painted it in the darkest corner of the room and made the decision I did or didn't like it within minutes. LOL Very expensive lesson. I think I still have those 3 gallons of paint!!

I'll likely go w/ a dark kahki type color. But I agree go buy some quarts and paint some squares to see which you really like.

And Pattiem, thanks.. beautiful rooms! YouÂre right, the color looks different in each room.

And when you paint the squares from the quarts, make the spots as big as you can. 6x8' as a minimum. We first did only 3'x3' and even that wasn't enough to truel "feel" the color.

My experience is, a color will lean away from its neutral tendencies the larger the space. In other words, if you think its a khaki with a hint of yellow, it will show the yellow stronger when a whole wall is done.

We've got SW Ecru for wall and SW Muslin for trim. Love it!

If you like khaki you might like SW Universal Khaki. That's what I have in my great room and I love it.
