After I got my Android phone, I kind of stopped using my Novel very much, and when this update came out, I was busy and didn't get around to it. When I finally found time, I couldn't find my charger. I finally found it this weekend, recharged the battery and installed the update. I had to run it several times and when I finished, I was missing some videos (but they're still on my laptop, so I can transfer them when I get a chance). Overall, I like it, but I wish they had gone to a higher release level than 2.0. I also wish we had access to the full marketplace rather than the limited one they give us. I forgot how much I disliked the sensitivity (or lack thereof) of the screen. I bought a package of DS styluses, which helps a lot, but I like the response I get from my phone a lot better. But it's definitely easier to read things like books and web pages on the Novel (and that type of use makes the screen sensitivity easier to live with). I'll have to download some videos to it and see how they play. IIRC, videos didn't always display very smoothly with the old OS.

Hi grandms, sorry I was not here sooner but I was in the hospital being sick as a dog. I however have survived and think I will make it LOL. I do hope I don't have to do that again anytime soon! I have never had that happen I think you may have to try calling pandigital support, I have always had very good luck when I call them. I was also going to suggest downloading it from the pc to your sd card if you can not do it directly. Was it the free one that is the problem or the one you paid for? Not sure that should matter at all though. Mine have always just moved over as soon as I checked the ones to download to the PDN bam they were on there. I do all of my books by way of the pc to SD card these days so that they are all on the sd card and I can move them between my various devices. Thanks for thinking of me!

HI Vienne, please be aware that Looking for Alibrandi covers the issue of youth suicide. My 13 year old step-daughter read it and loved it, but you might want to read it yourself first. Its a great book and explodes lots of myths about fitting in, etc. I second the recommendation for "Night". Its very powerful. I think I first read it when I was about 14. What about " The Secret Garden" by Francis Hodgeson(?sp) Burnet for the younger readers. Its a beautiful story. I think I read it about 12 times. Or the Narnia Chronicles by CS Lewis? A forerunner for Harry Potter. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet, The Merchant of Venice, Much Ado about Nothing, and Twelfth Night are all fairly easy reads. I started studying them when I was 13 with an inspiring teacher. If you can debunk the mystery of Shakespeare early on, you will give your kids a huge confidence boost, and reading and interpretation skills that will set them up for years. I agree that we seem to be 'dumbing down' our kids, but I'm quite inspired by the suggestions here. Cinnamonstick, thanks for those titles. I hope I can get them in Australia! Cheers Danielle
