Diane, I am going to tell you this for free, normally I charge for this service when I use to be a civie :-) Uninstall Norton from your machine ASAP, it's nothing but a bloated piece of you know what. Do this by going to start...control panel...add/remove programs and remove every sign and trace of it from your puter. Once you are done that, google AVG antivirus, the free version. Download and install that, it works a lot better. There you have it

You're not alone, Penny. When Adelphia service was taken over by Time Warner, I had incredible problems, with no service for big parts of the day on a regular basis. My business depends on reliable internet connection for not only email, and internet access but to send and receive large drawing files. My phone service is also through the internet so when the cable goes down, I am dead in the water. (Nothing to do but go out and work in the garden.) I just moved over the last few weeks and thought I was going to be in trouble since there is no cable out in this remote part of the Adirondacks, but I was surprised that high-speed DSL was available and I find the connection speed to be acceptable, even for VOIP. And it hasn't gone down even once since I've been here. Of course, you can't watch Wheel Of Torture and other mindless TV junk over the DSL line. Wayne

Sumerday you can get a network card anywhere quite reasonable. The link below is for Wintronic and they have stores in Stoney Creek and St. Catharines. I like the guys in the St. Catharines store, very helpful. But the Stoney Creek store seems less friendly and whilst I know what I am doing without help it is always nice to have comments made to aid you if needed.. The St. Catharines store is on Ontario St perhaps a mile south of the QEW. The Stoney Creek store is on the northwest corner of Centennial and Barton.
