" ... Some users are reporting that they do not have the “hotfix-update-xpi-signing-intermediate-bug-1548973” study active in “about:studies”. Rather than using work-arounds, which can lead to issues later on, we strongly recommend that you continue to wait. If it’s possible for you to receive the hotfix, you should get it by 6am EDT, 24 hours after it was first released. For everyone else, we are working to ship a more permanent solution. (May 5, 00:54 EDT)" Yes, waiting seems to be the latest recommendation from the Mozilla Add-ons Blog linked above.

RitaWeeda, You can set Firefox not to automatically install updates. Current versions ... Options \ General, scroll down to Firefox Updates section and select "Check for updates but let you choose to install them" It may be under a different menu structure if you're on an older version. It may still advise that an update is available but won't automatically install it. You can check manually check for updates by clicking on Help / About Firefox. It will check from there if any updates are available, advise you accordingly, and offer to fetch and install. I've been using Firefox since the 0.xx versions.

Depends on the details of what's happening but an out-of-date security certificate may not be the fault of the browser. The bank's IT dept or the tech people who manage the online banking server buys an SSL certificate from a CA (Certificate Authority) and installs it on said server, and are responsible for renewing it when it expires. The server's certificate may have coincidentally expired when you updated Firefox. That being said, there have been cases of an outdated certificate authority being "on file" in the browser, or even in the (presumably Windows) OS. Does the problem occur with other browsers on the same computer, or with any browser on other computers? Perhaps ask the bank for their input on the situation. You didn't provide the URL for your bank access so others can check if they get the warning at the log-in page. You can view certificates on-file in Firefox via Tools / Options / Privacy & Security / Certificates / View Certificates / Authorities. Select one in the list and double-click it or click View to examine the details.

I tried the built-in Firefox Sync a long time ago but decided it wasn't for me. I don't remember why. On my home network I sync Firefox profile directories. I use a utility called rsync but it's not for everyone. Likely the easiest way is to use Firefox Sync but if you're comfortable with learning file locations, you can copy and paste either the entire Firefox profile or just the files you're interested in. For example, Firefox bookmarks are stored in a file called "places.sqlite". If you copy that file from one of your computers and paste it into another computer, you'll have your bookmarks from the first (master?) computer on the second (slave?) computer. Likewise, to copy the passwords remembered by Firefox, you just need to copy two files from the master computer/profile to the slave computer/profile. "key4.db" and "logins.json". Personally, I find it easier to copy the entire profile.. To locate your Firefox profile: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data#w_how-do-i-find-my-profile A few of the important individual files: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recovering-important-data-from-an-old-profile#w_your-important-data-and-their-files Possibly an added benefit of knowing where your Firefox profile is located is that you can make a "just in case" copy of it. I'm on Linux but on Vista I'm sure you can probably right-click the directory and select something like "Add to zip folder" or something like that? If your profile later gets corrupted you'll have a backup. Just unzip the backup and replace the corrupt profile.
