question regarding replacement part

I ordered a replacement power supply/charger for my notebook computer and the voltage and amps on the one I received are different than those on the original from the manufacturer. The original was 18.5V - 3.5 amp and the replacement is 19V - 4.7 amp. Is it safe to use this replacement power supply on my notebook?

I'd say go ahead and try it. .5 Volts and 1.2 amps should not cause any issue. Those voltage and current values are likely to vary somewhat anyway due to line voltage fluctuations.

Thanks for the reply zep516. This power supply is one I'll keep in my laptop case for use when I travel.

Thanks Bucky. So far so good. I loved the Rivieras, it's unfortunate that GM pulled the plug on such a beautiful car... but business is business I guess. His car doesn't have the supercharged engine, just the standard 205 hp version... but it pulls the car pretty good! Another quwstion that perhaos you can answer: When turning on the air conditioner, is there a more convenient way of getting the air to blow through the vents than having to push the air flow button several times to get it off of the floor to the 'mid' setting? Everyime I turn the AC on, the setting is always on the floor (regardless of where it was the last time I shut the car off) I'm sure the memory feature would take care of this, but I'm still learning that one too!

Perlite is easy to find. Usually a place like lowes will have it. For the peat portion, you can just use bagged miracle gro potting mix. Lowes will also have that. Dolomite lime, again, lowes should have it. pine bark that'll work well will be the only tricky part. The pine bark prices need to be 1/8-1/4" and a lot of pine bark out there is just too large to use. I see you're in NJ. Do you have an Agway store close by (I see there are some in jersey). This bark works well for me. You'll still need to do a little sifting and also pick out the sapwood (light colored stuff).

Pretty easy to replace old with a non-lighted one - check youtube for a video. Remember black wire goes to gold terminal, white to silver. Obviously turn off the breaker first (had to say this). Wires up the same.

Granny you may want to try connecting the power supply to the computer. This is just to make sure the female end on the power supply will fit over the male post on the computer. Some of those vary in size and I do believe it has to do with the voltages so we don't make too many mistakes.

Better to find out now before you travel so you know it fits.

owbist: The female end of the power supply fits the post but I was hesitant to plug the electric plug in until I checked here. It's great to have a place to ask a question and know you'll get answers. thanks
