My first thought is the hospital may be blocking Hotmail for security reasons. I have heard of it before where some entities feel Hotmail is too vulnerable thus susceptible to viruses, etc. But, as you report they do allow Yahoo. Interesting.

First, have him clear out the Internet Files and Cookies. There might be a corrupt file there that is reappearing upon his request.

How is the roommate attempting to access Hotmail? WWW.hotmail.com? Through the MSN homepage (there is a hot link on the upper left quarter of the page)?

Hotmail has so many servers and portals you could even try a Google of Hotmail then using the provided hot link.

I agree with damccoy try all the various methods/portals to access hotmail. I use hotmail for my main email and have on occasion had problems getting to it through the regular methods. I have indeed had to google hotmail and use some of the links provided to get to hotmail.
I normally use the msn.com page then log into my msn page which has a button on the top to hotmail or down on the page it may actually show your inbox if you have it set up that way. That way usually works for me where as when I try going directly to www.hotmail.com I can have problems. It is quirky. So have him try all the methods and of course make sure he is using the correct user name and password. And try several times because I find at certain times of day mine will not connect well, I have to try a few times to get it.

he's going to the msn homepage and trying to access it from there. Msn comes up but hotmail won't even load so he can put in user name and password. Will try it from the various ways mentioned above.

he should be able to go to the regular basic msn.com then click on mymsn then a log in will come up to put in user name and password, from there he should be able to access the hotmail link button. But he surely should be able to just go to www.hotmail.com and log in there.
