Query: how many people to change lightbulb
Comments (6)When the lamp failed to work, you assumed that the "bulb" (which actually is a lamp) had failed. And you have assumed that the "new" "bulbs" are good. Without testing by a knowledgeable person, it is not possible to know exactly what has failed in your situation. I have no reason to believe that you are installing the lamp incorrectly....See MoreHow do you deal w high ceilings in kitchen?
Comments (28)desertsteph: Thanks for posting those pics - what a unique collection! From your screen name I gather you live in the desert? Jterrilynn: Cruising is a great way...then you can get off the boat at each port & explore. Valdez is a huge tourist attraction so be sure & choose a cruise that has Valdez as a port of call. Even though I hate the idea of being on the water, I'd rather do that than drive the 100's of road miles. With all the RV's on the road, it can drive you bonkers. Oh, & when someone up here says, "It's just up the road a piece.", ask, "OK, just exactly how many miles are you talking about?" Our 'up a piece' can be in the 100's LOL Hope you go on that cruise! :) I know what you mean about getting the 'rejected' screen. I've had to fight with that, too. I usually have to change the title of the thread to make it work. laurainlincoln: Sap buckets - how charming! Patina can really mask the dust, eh? :) Dusting is one of my most hated chores...I'd much rather clean a dirty bathroom! Thanks, everyone, for your great input. :)...See MoreCeiling Fan - Do You Change Directions for Winter?
Comments (24)We would be running the AC today - except for the fact that the AC quit working sometime during the night. We slept miserably. Thank goodness that a very nice wind is blowing today, all ceiling fans are on, and that is the only reason we are not sweltering. Hope we sleep somewhat better tonight, since we will know to open windows and turn on ceiling fans. Did not call a repairman because we did not want to ruin anyone's Christmas day with family. And by the way, we don't change directions for winter. An electrician told us many years ago that no matter what, the air that the ceiling fan blows will always be cool. I've always wondered though. Does it seem to make a difference to you that practice turning the fan differently for the seasons?...See MoreWhat trees do you have in your area or on your property?
Comments (116)Waas, trees aren’t the only plants that make life possible lol. Plus, grasslands are typically more “species rich” (biodiverse) than temperate forests and on some scales even beat tropical rainforests in plant diversity! Couple that hat with the fact that grasses are more resilient to climate change since they are more drought tolerant and fire resistant than trees and they are better at sequestering carbon because most of it is stored underground in their massive root systems rather than in huge above ground trunks, stems, and leaves. Have I made a prairie convert of anyone yet ;). To to be fair, while I gree up out here on the prairie and I have a special fondness for it, it’s only my second favorite ecosystem. If I had the opportunity to move back down to the low desert in southern Arizona I would be out of here in a heartbeat. The Madrean Sky Islands south of Tucson is my favorite place on the planet. You go from low desert-grassland populated by scrubby, green barked palo verdes and towering saguaros up in elevation through mesquite bosqes and into subtropical and montane forests of sycamores, oaks and conifers. If you’re lucky you might even catch a glimpse of a jaguar. I don’t know if it was the blazing desert sun or what, but the forests there seemed much brighter and less closed in than other forests. The rugged basin and range of the Sonoran desert just west of there is equally as beautiful with is craggly, weathered mountains where agaves, ocotillo, and organ pipe cactus thrive. Then there’s the Mojave desert and it’s savannahs of Joshua trees. If there is one place on this earth I live above all others it’s the desert....See Moremacv
