I have the PB Hayden towel ring, bar and tp holder. Their website says die-cast brass, while the Mercer line is forged brass. I don't know what the difference is but their prices are similar. I think the quality is fine.

Thank you all for figuring out what I meant, despite all the typos! Oh my goodness. I was rushing off to work and had to make a decision, but proofing would have been good. ;) I hadn't considered the base metal. With everyone so happy with their PB purchases, and the price difference, I just decided to order the whole thing from them. I didn't make any sacrifices on my kitchen when I did it. I knew it was important to me to get it "right" and paid the extra $100 here and extra $100 there etc to get exactly what I wanted. But I don't feel like when the bathroom is done I'll have the same attachment to it. I got my Bain Ultra tub, so I'll have my luxury. But it's not even the bathroom I use except for bathing. It's my daughters' and guests' bathroom. I mean, it'll be really nice. But I don't need to focus on the teeny details between two towel racks that would look identical to less obsessed people than we are iykwim. I could have found a brass base closer to the Top Knobs look, but really, am I going to notice once we start using it? They are really close. Of course, I'll post pictures. Walls go up tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be too long now. Can't wait until this is done and I can move on to the master. It's 42" wide by 108" long with a door at one end and a 34" x32" shower stall at the other, with the toilet right next to the shower. Oh and a large window centered on the wall opposite the wall where the (insult to cabinets even call them cabinets, builders would be embarrassed to use them) cabinets are. That should be fun for everyone thelp me figure out... if we even can. Thank you to Boston's crazy winter for the water damage. Should I be celebrating? ;)

Yes, mayflowers. That's the one. Quite a bargain @ $159 on clearance, and another 15% off on top. My Kohler Artifacts rack cost me about $340 well over a year ago, and the Mercer is much prettier. I ordered the Mercer train rack as well as the expandable tub caddy and a double towel bar. Thank you all for the clarifications, especially the metal and forging issues. I think I will love it -- and I had better. At that price, there are no returns! LOL.

I've was struggling with this question last week. We are going with mostly modern fixtures and the ones that appealed to me were the Kohler Purist line. I saw that Delta Trinsic looked very similar but all the Delta pieces are significantly cheaper. (Sometimes they are 25% the cost of the Kohler.) So I ordered a TP holder and a towel ring from both. I very quickly saw the difference in quality when I opened the packages. The Kohler products are twice as heavy and look like they would hold up much better. So we are biting the bullet and spending more on the accessories. However, I will say I ordered a contemporary styled Grab Bar from Delta because those were also considerably cheaper than the Purist bars and the quality of that seems very solid. I hadn't thought of using them as towel bars, and that might work. The style seems pretty similar to the Purist. We do need some grab bars because this is our guest bathroom and we have guests that need them, but I want them to go with everything else. I do think spending more on quality is often worth it, but there is usually a sweet spot where paying a little more means better quality. But after that point, sometimes you are just paying for style and name. Finding that sweet spot is sometimes hard. I certainly don't think I could spend $500 for a single bathroom accessory, but it does appear I will be paying more than $100 for at least some of them. :-)
