I know this isn't going to be most people's taste and certainly not what's "in" today but it's my husband's bathroom, he's an outdoorsman and we live in Texas. Need I say more? :) I love it! A total opposite from my bathroom done in sea tone glass (blues and blue green), Giallo Ornamental granite and the lightest color of travertine contrasted with a dark choc stained vanity. I know the Venetian Bronze Delta faucet would have probably looked better or at least "expected" but he's had antique bronze fixtures in there for 33 years and I know what they look like every morning after he's gotten ready for work. The sink was a Kohler "swiss chocolate" cast iron. You can probably imagine! Last night he asked me if I'm cleaning his sink area every day. I said no :) He was shocked how well the glass sink, busy granite and stainless faucet was hiding his mess. I asked him if he thought that was just an accident! LOL He wanted a copper sink but I knew it would be a maintenance nightmare so I bought the same type of sink I have but in this "Cobalt Copper" color. Next phase will be the tub and surround. That probably won't happen till after deer season (Jan 1) but I'm starting to think about tile if anyone would like to offer some suggestions.

Oh wow--that sink is perfect, perfect, perfect with that stunningly dramatic granite! Love the rich wood tones of the vanity as well!

pps7, I'm sorry I didn't see your post in April. :( Thank you for your comments! labocki, the master is real marble called Gioia and I bought it from DalTile. I was originally going to do a patterned floor and subway in the shower, too! Then I saw the marble and decided to use it everywhere. I thought a 'tile rug' with patterned tile in the middle of the floor would be the star of that bathroom until I realized I would probably have a real rug covering that cold marble tile floor and it would cover any tile rug so I just did 100% 12x12 polished marble everywhere. That was a short story made long :) but I wanted to tell you I had your vision also (Mrs. Limestone-ish). Having said all that, I would be very happy with the Carrera Star on all of the surfaces in the master. The shower floor can be your basketweave. Or maybe the shower floor plus a row on the wall similar to the bubbles in our hall bathroom. The faucets in the master were bought at Home Depot about 10 yrs ago and I think they are Delta. I did see similar faucets in either HD or Lowes. Good luck! maggie200, thank you! Personally, I would not use vessel sinks now and glass block would depend on how you are using it. This old thread got revisited. @dani_m08 to answer the question about extra probe, I believe I ordered an extra one when I bought the set up. The probe wire is just setting in the junction box I think but honestly I cant remember. When I laid out the underfloor heating and the probe, I just ran another probe near the first probe, and it was then sealed into the floor self leveling compound as per instructions. then the end was just threaded into the wall like the one that would be live, and not connected, but just laying there in the box. Regarding the tile layout. I just decided to run it this way, after getting instructions on the 90Degree way, IIRC. The herringbone that I love is from my childhood and the side walks in my neighborhood that all ran at 45Degree. so that to me is herringbone. I know you posted on @sochi thread about her amazing bathroom and a wall mounted faucet. I would totally do it if I had the right sink for it. In my case I had made my sink out of soapstone and an integrated backsplash. The pictures of this bathroom reveal are no longer available because of the use of photo bucket, when it was Gardenweb. I did not keep my account with photo bucket. I'll add some of the reveal pictures so you can see the sink and floor. Regarding the sink there is no ledge for water to drip from my hands when using the faucet. The water drips right into the sink. In my other bathroom with a deck mounted faucet I am always wiping up drips and it is a nuisance. I much prefer the setup for this sink. Below: I love the flush finish from the faucet to the bottom of the sink. nothing drips on a counter or edge of a sink. Below: looking in from the doorway. Below: Here I am finishing up the sink. the backsplash was epoxied on as a separate piece. The whole soapstone install in the room took next to nothing to buy as they were all small pieces that I epoxied together with a 3 part stone epoxy. Below: this is the counter at the tub, and is in 2 long pieces but I was able to epoxy them together at there edges to make a wide slab for the top. All the soapstone was finished with a 60 grit sandpaper to be rough and this lovely soft tone of blue/green/gray/white. I did not oil it so this color tone would remain light. Below: If I recall correctly @sochi helped me decide on this Hubberton Forge Mirror. I have 3 different metals in this room, but they are all a cool silver to black color. Below: the center of this tower shares space with the kitchen on the other side of the wall. there is also some extra space that houses some electrical wiring. this is an old simple house. this bathroom was an add on when it got move to the farm in the 30s IIRC. The plumbing was all rearrange and some of the details that were orignially there I kept but updated it, such as this tower feature. The old one went and the carpenter did a wonderful job with this one. Below: This feature was another thing I kept from the old bathroom but flipped it from the other end and had the carpenter put drawers in it. Before it was a hell hole. things got lost and the build was soooo old and creapy I didn't like using it for storage. Now it is perfect for storage.

Upon further investigation :) My wife, who does most of the cooking, says she uses the peninsula for most of the prep work (I guess I need to pay more attention!). Dishes go directly into the dishwasher or into the sink (we don't leave dishes on the counter, .....). **My cooking style requires minimal prep so I just use the spot beside the range :) Hope this helps.

Tibbrix, I totally agree about the slate. He can put that in his rustic/reclaimed bath he's building in the loft above his barn/shop. If we do a (reclaimed) wood it will just be on the wall the vanity is on. And thanks for the tip on researching how to protect the walls from moisture. I'll look for a picture. I had one I took for the cabinet maker but unless I've over looked it, I've already trashed it. There isn't a lot of wall space as this 5x8 bathroom as it has two doors...one opens to a bedroom and the other opens to a small hall. Holly Kay, I like mixing it up a little and putting something unexpected in a room. Our "Cowboy Chic" Monster (because of the size) den is a deep spiced pumpkin color with antelope carpet, cow hides, deer and bobcat mounts, lots of wood and stone but I try to level out the manly-ness of it all with some elegant touches :) In fact, I have a bowl from the same company that makes the sink (in both of our bathrooms) that sits on a formal-ish rustic stand in the den. This company also makes glass tile to match their sinks. I'd love to do some accents on the tub surround with it but DH has nixed that idea :( Here is a picture of the bowl/stand in the den. Violet, thank you. We're loving the offset faucet. SO glad we went with it. It was going to be super tight to put the faucet behind the sink due to the size of the sink and the thickness of the backsplash. In fact, it might not have worked at all! I didn't realize that the drain plunger thingy was so angled. outsideplaying, I wanted to use some matching glass tiles in on the tub surround but (as of right now) my husband isn't wanting any glass tile on the surround. (Cceana) copper and black glass tiles were the exact colors I had in mind as accent tiles. BTW, this is a tub/shower combo. There is no shower floor. Masculine framed mirror is already in the works :) Caramel...ohh that sounds nice. I deep caramel color. I'll have to look into that! Thank you! In case there are some that are sensitive to looking at animal skins, I've decided to post a link to the picture of the Oceana glass bowl/stand instead of embedding it. GORGEOUS! I am in love with the granite and sink. I also like the faucet offset to the side. Way to go with the unexpected.

Question: You call your granite Giallo Ornamental. I am using a granite in our teens bath that Arizona Tile calls Giallo Santo and Daltile calls Giallo Ornamental. It looks like this:

Zookeeper, MY granite is Giallo Ornamentale and looks like you first pic. My husband's is Desert Dream/Magna Gold. here is a link to my bathroom with the Giallo Ornamentale.

I LOVE the magna Gold but chickened out. I really like how you did it with the sink. I ended up going with Arizona Tile Coliseum granite (Daltile calls Golden Beaches).
What is the name of your sink?
I'm in DFW. Wherebouts you be?

Your bath is just beautiful. I love your glass sinks.

What size ceiling fan did you go with? I am removing the center fixture in our MB and going with a ceiling fan and moving the light (if they let me) to over the tub. Pretty chandelier too.

Zookeeper, I love LOVE Golden Beaches! Too many stones, not enough projects (or money) :o The sinks are from Oceana Glass. They are super hard (RocHard) and rated for kitchen use, including 212+ degree water. They are scratch, stain and thermal shock resistant. IAPMO certified. You can read about their Hard Roc glass formula vs soda lime glass at the link below AND see all their pretty colors :) I also have the Champagne Gold in a dish/bowl on an iron "nature" stand.

I be just about 60 miles due east of Dallas, on hwy 80, right on the edge of the "Piney Woods of East Texas" :)

The walls of my bathroom are a 10x10. I'm pretty sure the Craftmade Fans (made right in your own backyard) are 24" blades. They tried to talk me into the next size up but I knew it would be too much and I'd have a reduced airflow.

Monica, I love your bathroom, too. The use of sea colors with the rich wood went surprisingly well together! You are so smart to know that it would work. Your husband's vanity is richness personified. Now I have to go see if #2 is up there to find! I am eager to see the rest of the bathroom.

PS, nice to see good old pbase still used by someone besides me. I love it. It is easy and they don't bother anyone with ads.

Thanks Nancy! The colors were inspired by the Caribbean sea and beaches we've been lucky enough to be able to cruise to.
If you're referring to picture # 2 in this thread, it's just a closeup of the sink. The vanity area is all we've done so far. I've been whining about this last room (house is 33 years old) being stuck in the early 80. So he finally agreed to do it in stages as we bought the material and paid for each stage. Well the most expensive part has been done. And he will do most of the other work (entire bathroom gut) but nothing more will be done until hunting season is over. I MIGHT get the light fixture and mirror before the end of the year (g) Here's the light fixture we're using. You can't see the drawer pulls but they have Texas stars on them. Found a light with the same.

pbase. I've been with them for probably 14 years. I never got a renewal notice last fall. Then early 2014 they said my acct would be removed if I didn't renew. I had been considering letting it go anyway so I looked for a way to easily download all my pictures. There isn't one. They used to offer a tool but not anymore :o I'm not going to the trouble to download all those pictures one by one when I'm sure I have 99% of them anyway. They still haven't removed my pictures!
