Runtime error

Right now I am using Comodo Dragon for my browser. I have windows 7.

yesterday I got a couple of Runtime error.

This is what the last error message said..the 1st one was very similar

but didn't write it down & don't know how to copy from the clipboard without Paint Shop Pro.

program files:C:program files (X86)/ask.com/update 1 exe

This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I also started a different problem..

Any links in my Thunderbird mail won't open. I really need that too.

that error message is from the ask toolbar which is NOT something you want on your pc I would remove all traces of it immediately. It likely came with some install you did and it was set to install it unless you unchecked that option.

I sure thought I was careful about places like that.. must have missed it somehow. I'll look for it & remove what I find.

Any idea about the mail problem. My mail is almost useless now as I need to get them to go to the net on a lot of them.

It'll probably be the same. I'm hoping that in CCleaner under Tools/ Startup, you'll be able to spot any programs that you don't need running at startup and delete those entries. Bacisally all you really need are your anti-virus and firewall. There are more advanced things a person can do like using the System Configuration Utility by clicking your start button/ run/ and type msconfig and choose Selective Startup and uncheck load startup items or Diagnostic Startup, but for now, might as well keep it simple. If you haven't had this problem for very long, possibly a system restore to an earlier time would fix this. Does the error mention anything about "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error. The problem could be something as simple as google toolbar or yahoo toolbar if you have either.

You can also fix the problem by going into IE Internet Options and clicking on... > Tools menu > Click the Advanced tab. > Click to select the Disable script debugging check box. > Click to clear the Display a notification about every script error check box. > Click Apply, and then click OK. That should eliminate any future problems. HTH Anne

What is XP2000???? You are either using WinXPHome, Pro or you are using Win2000, it cant be both. Right click on the My Computer option and select properties it should tell you what windows version you are using

Idunno Assuming you have the control panel applet for JAVA. You may want close all browser windows and look in the JAVA applet... and click on Settings... Then click Delete Files. Then also in your brower, clear the cached internet files too. Maybe, could be, that'll fix it. If you've crossed your fingers when doing this maybe you'll get lucky!

I found ask.com in default search options. I deleted it. There is also a: ask Jeeves UK.ask.com. Shouldn't I delete that also? I rebooted & that error message didn't come on.
I just want to be sure before I delete it but think ALL traces includes the ask Jeeves.

I went ahead & deleted Jeeves since it is part of ASK..
Bob, I kinda solved the problem of Thunderbird.
I am keeping Chrome open & it goes there. Not perfect but it works.
