Correction.

Their instructions were wrong. It appears that after downloading the file, when you click on it, it will extract to the windows/temp folder. Then it will be necessary to go to the windows/temp folder and run the file named vbrun60sp6.exe. That file will place the required files in the proper location.

Can't I just download the msvbvm60.dll file? Next where would I put it.. in system 32?

The Visual Basic 6 SP6 runtime library, also called vb6 runtime files or vbrun dll set, are required to run programs that were written in Visual Basic 6. It can be difficult to know whether a program needs these files because often an author fails to mention it in the help files or documentation. Typically the way you find out is that you run the program and an error message appears 'A required .DLL file was not found', 'Runtime error' (caution, this error has lots of different causes) or 'Error: the file msvbvm60.dll could not be found.'

Another catch is that there are 6 major versions of Visual Basic, each with their own runtime library set (6 sets in total). Plus to make life really difficult, Visual Basic also has service pack releases. Fortunately, these are backward compatible but still can be a pain. The current set is Service Pack 6 (SP6) released in late March 2004 and it will run files written with VB 6 SP1 to SP6 .

This package includes msvbvm60.dll, oleaut32.dll, olepro32.dll and others. After you have downloaded the file, simply run it and the files will be copied to their correct location.

Dar,

I suppose you could do a google search for that specific file but it's always best to get the latest ones from Microsoft. That way you will know that all the files are updated and you won't have any problems in the future.
If you prefer, you can go directly to Microsoft at the link below and download. Just follow the directions and I'm sure everything will be okay.

Weather Watcher probably needs the latest version of that file. That's why you should update to the SP6 version as outlined in my last post.

Yes, folder and directory are the same. Directory was what they called it in early days of DOS. Folder is what they call it in Windows.
It doesn't make any difference where you download it to as long as you know where it's at.
Once downloaded, you need to run it to extract the files. you can extract the files to the same folder/directory that you downloaded it to and then running the vbrun60sp6.exe will automatically install the proper files to the system32 folder. Once that's done you can delete the files from the desktop.

I still can't get it.. says I am missing this file now:

an OCX file extension is for active-X controls. A DLL file is Dynamic Link Library file.
For the missing OCX file go to the link below, download, if needed, and register as instructed.

Once it is there click START--> RUN and type "REGSVR32 MSCOMCTL.OCX" (No quotes) in the box.

In a way this is funny.. guess who wrote that post but then I couldn't find it..I figured they didn't put it on as I tried to put in the urls but they didn't work..I did try ignore before but it wouldn't let me..after several tries just now it did. I am still having problem with it saying I'm not connected to the INTERNET..I'll try to work through that somehow.
A couple of years ago my son worked with them some on the skins. He may have been as much a problem as help.. who know. They were good to him & kind. They did use several of his ideas. They have gone beyond his knowledge now. Before this version his name was also in the credits for the skins.
Maybe tomorrow my son can help me now..(also maybe not)
I believe he was the one who figured out IE8 was part of the problem with updates..at least one of them :) He lives in VA so isn't here to help me physically.
I guess Weather Watcher has a special spot in my heart. I'll let U know if I get it working.

I can't get it to update so downloaded from the other link.. it seems to be in with weatherbug & don't like that plus it is located farther away. Back to the drawing board.. somehow I will win this battle LOL.
