Where do you put paper towels, wet dish towels, cutting boards,
Comments (35)Paper Towels: On a vertical stand next to my sink. I like having them handy. It is an inexpensive one from Target. In the past, I had them hanging under the upper cabinets. After we remodeled, I needed a new solution. I didn't think the countertop one would be stable, but it is and I really like it. I enjoying being able to grab the whole roll and take it to another room if I need to. Wet dish towels: I have a Rev-a-shelf hanging rod thing on the inside of one of my cabinet doors under the sink. I only use it occasionally though. Usually I have a dishtowel folded in half laying/hanging right on the counter where I stand at the sink. I use it for drying my hands, fruit, dishes, etc. throughout the day. It dries quickly. I have a dish drainer on one side of my double sink, so anything I hand wash usually just dries in there. If I've entertained and have extra hand washing with more dishes on a towel on the counter, then those go on the racks under the sink until they dry. Sometimes if I have one that is really wet and yucky, I just throw it on the tile floor in my laundry room (closet). It is the only tile I have in the whole house (I like to take advantage of it.) :) Cutting boards: In a vertically divided cabinet in one of my lowers. Plastic bags: I donate them to a food bank, so I throw them in the trunk of my car until I see my friend who takes them for me. :)...See MoreWhat would you put here?
Comments (37)Sorry for the absence, I was so busy yesterday. Okay, lots to digest here. I have to admit that I love how the chest looks in the foyer. I feel like it gives the foyer presence. I will try to move it into the living room to see how it looks there though. The bench with the mirror hanging above would look nice. I have the mirror on the floor in the dining room because I thought I would hang it above a buffet (once I can afford one). As far as the big painting in the corner of the LR, I can't figure out where to put that. In the old house it hung above my couch. I'm thinking of maybe hanging it above my bed now. It seemed too large for the corner space in the LR. I do have a lot of other paintings (mostly smaller ones) that I have to figure out where to hang. I'm so scared of making holes in my newly painted walls that I am having huge commitment issues!! It is so hard to decide what to put where and I tend to change my mind a lot ;) As far as the plant, I agree it is looking pretty sparse. It went into shock when we moved, I am trying to coax it back, it may take awhile though. Another question, do you think the painting is too small for over the fireplace? I also have these ceramic candleholders, would they look good on either side of the painting? Also, do you envision curtains or roman shades for this room? If we were in there at night, I would close whatever was there for privacy from the street. Thanks!...See MoreWhat would you put here?
Comments (37)I think the space screams for artwork. I loved the hanging pots posted above, but Funkels' space has a lot of activity in the area already, with the cookbooks below and wine rack to the side. That's why I would shy away from a chalkboard or bulletin board. I think something copper would be gorgeous with the granite! I have a metal sculpture from this artist, and I've seen a lot of his work. Here's mine: He used to have a lot more examples on the web site, including the most beautiful stair rail I've ever seen. Comments (21)Hi chloenkitty, You have a beautiful home with wonderful views to the outside. As a Interior designer I would suggest to apply a soft, translucent fabric such as two sheer curtains for the window treatment to avoid obstructing the view. Additionally, if you want to tie the dining area with the kitchen you can add a topper with the same fabric you use for the kitchen window without applying anything to the small side windows. This suggestion coordinates well with the style of the overall space, such as crystal chandeliers, white cabinets, contemporary tufted dining seating, and contemporary furniture in the living area. With anything you decide to choose, please attach pictures of the final result. Good luck!...See MoreSamanthaV
