If they are painting your house, I don't see why you can't have any color you want.

We had the opposite problem that we wanted Certainteed PRE-PAINTED which has a baked on finish and comes with a 15 year warranty. And had picked out the color we wanted from the Certainteed palette. Then our GC fritzed around and didn't bothering ordering the siding until 2 days before he is ready to start putting it up. At that point we were stuck with letting him use primed but unpainted Hardie because that is all that is available locally or letting our house sit wrapped in Tyvek for up to 6 weeks while waiting for the Certainteed siding to arrive. GRRRRR. Still makes me mad.

For paint colors though, we went to Sherwin Williams and had them match the color we had previously chosen from the Certainteed color palette. So, at least the house will be the color we want even though we have lost out on the 15 year Certainteed warranty on the paint job.

Tell your builder you don't like the color and that it is NOT the shade you were led to believe it would be so you want it repainted. Go and find the color you like in a quality paint and make them redo it.

IMHO Certainteed and Hardy are the same quality maybe an edge to the Certainteed. I actually think they are both know owned by the same company. I know Hardie has changed pre-paint vendors several times as well as paint brands.

Paint colors and names are all over the charts as for accuracy. Better to compare color samples on like product.

I don't see a lot of difference in the colors, looking at the sunlit portions. It's hard to tell, though, since it looks like the houses were photographed at different times of the day.

Yours does look like a creamy beige, not a creamy yellow.

Not that it matters since you're the one who needs to be satisfied, but I personally like the color your house is currently painted way more than the other color. I think it will be more dramatic against the white trim.

They do look like the same color to me in the pics, just different lights. Your inspiration house looks like a light tan with yellow undertones. Yours look the same, but darker due to the light.

Could you put some of the paint on a little piece of wood or something and hold it up to the house you wanted the color of so you can see it in the exact same light to see if it is off?

Pity you don't have your own sample of the color-- I'm thinking the builder might tell you that he's compared colors himself and everything is just hunky dory, and you'll still have your doubts. It can be very hard to ask for proof in those situations...

I used custom mixed [by me] colors for my stain on the exterior, but used a [an?] Historic Trust color for my interior called 'Cincinatian Hotel Carl Tan'. Great color, love it more every day. But when it first when up, it seemed waaaaaaaay too dark: everything else was primer white, making the tan look as dark as a chocolate bar.

I assumed Lowes had given me the wrong color: I figured they must surely have mixed the mid range value on the card rather than the lightest.

So I pulled out my trusty sample, held it up to the wall and to my surprise, the color was _exactly_ what it was supposed to be.

My builder could have sworn on his soul that this was the case and I wouldn't have beleived him if I hadn't seen it for myself.

But now that 99% of my paint is done, the color looks fantabulous. I'm seriously thinking I should put a sample in my safe deposit box so I can re-create it if need be.

Our builder gave us the lid from the paint with the color dried to check out the color in different lights. He told us to wait until the white trim goes up to see how it looks. He didn't get another sample of Navajo Beige to hold up to our house but checked the the paint "recipe" combo to make sure it was right. I haven't gone up to the other house that is same color to see if it the same. I think I will soon. We saw the front of our house in brighter light and it still looks darker.

I am hoping it will brighten up with the white trim so we will see.

Doesn't Lowes give you a label with the paint codes on it? HD does. That should be all that you need to keep in a safe place.

I noticed that both SW and Benjamin Moore has the Navajo White color names in their color decks. The Benjamin Moore one is more tan and SW more cream

We are still waiting for the trim to be painted this week. Hopefully tomorrow if it doesn't rain. The construction supervisor double checked the paint with the paint store and that was right. It just doesn't look like the same as the house down the street in the above picture. I ordered a sample of Hardi Plank color - Navajo Beige from James Hardie. It came today and it looks like the paint lid color from the paint on our house. It has been a hard week because it still looks like a darker tan to my husband and I. I am still hoping it lightens up. We liked both colors Navajo Beige and Sailcloth (thought both colors were cheery and light). I will take pictures of the house after the trim is painted and you can tell me what you think.

Okay the color is much better without the windows taped out and the white trim painted. It still is a creamy tan with a little yellow but I am hoping it gets better when they put up the rest of the trim and shutters. We chose black for the shutters and door, how original! The first picture is before the white trim more on a sunny day and the next is with the white trim and front porch columns. Tell me what you think!

Mine is Certainteed "Sand". Your house looks like the same color. Nice looking home, BTW. This will give you an idea fo the finished product.

I like the last picture you posted. I hesitate to comment on photos of color because of computer distortion, lighting at the time of the photo, etc. For instance, the lighting was great on this last photo, and dark on your OP.

Anyway, your house looks great. Bet you are excited about the trim going on.

Here is a more recent, not in the best light. It was taken at 5pm. I will try to get one when it is sunny because it is amazing now that the white trim and shutters are up. I really like the color now.
