Adobe Acrobat question

I have used adobe acrobat 5.0 on my computer for years (to create pdfs) Took computer to Geek Squad for some major clean up stuff & they downloaded the new version of Trend Micro which is why I think I now have Adobe READER 8.0 and can no longer make pdfs.

I see the acrobat 5.0 in a backup file on my desktop, but it will no longer help me.

what to do? Thanks for any advice.

It sounds like the Geek Squad replaced the full version of Acrobat with Acrobat Reader. I would take it back to them and insist that they correct the problem.

It does sound like they got reader on your pc now and not the full acrobat. They may have thought they were doing a security update and not realized it was a different program, which would not surprise me for geek squad.

Have you tried going to control panel > add remove programs and seeing if your program is still listed there? If so if you hilight it does it give you an option to repair? IF it is still listed then try going to your programs folders in explorer and finding the executable file for it and seeing if you can double click on it. IF the program is still on the pc you should be able to get it back up.

Taunia, Reader is still free. Download HERE from Adobe. I didn't know full Acrobat was ever free, but I think there are some other PDF writer softwares out there that are free. Try a google search. Jill

That's what puzzles me, I don't see a pdf file listed. I've copied (see below)what I received from my contact. She says that she sends this email to about 50 addresses and I'm the only one that has a problem with it. There is no pdf icon anywhere in the email. Subject: Come 'N Take It newsletter Date: Jan 28, 2010 4:10 PM Sorry it's a little late, but here it is. The second page pertains to our upcoming anniversary dance and a list of ideas and items we will need for the decorations. Thanks y'all and Yellow Rock! Just double click on to the pdf icon and it will open. If you want to print it, just drag it on to your desktop and print from there. Yes they should open just fine in Sumatra. And if they should be something special that only adobe can view(rare).. you can reinstall adobe reader,,,, .. new version out today. Firefox I saw a message board todays new standard version reads PDF too. So if you use firefox.. you don't really need adobe or Sumatra or anybodys for basic PDF's.
