Virus?

I went to a site & Avast blocked it. Then I did a boot time scan & it came up with the following. I told it to delete. Is this a virus & am I clean if it is? If it isn't clean what should I do. I no longer have HIGH JACK THIS link.

Dar according to your post it has found and deleted an infection. You can always confirm this by running another scan which should come back with a clean report.

I believe you have either Superantispyware or Malwarebytes. Run a full scan with which ever you have as well. We cannot be too careful these days.

Why do you feel you need HiJackThis? It is a dangerous program if used unwisely.

First of all.. the only reason I would have done a HJT would be to put a report in here.. NO! I would never do anything with it on my own.
I Have both MWB & Superantispyware & scan with them both often & do get the latest update. I did a full scan with both after getting blocked & came out clean with them. Then I did a boot time scan & found the virus.
I am going to do another boot time scan. I guess if it comes clean I am OK.. hope so.

I am using chrome browser. For some reason my extensions don't always work right. They will when I 1st put on Chrome then after awhile will just flash & go back off. We have re-installed Chrome but that didn't help. I have to close Chrome & open it back up if I want to use one of them.. no big deal really but shouldn't have to do that.

Also when I save my bookmarks to a flash drive it cuts them off before all get saved. Now I'm having to save them to the desktop then send them to the flash drive. Then I have to find them & drag them to the right folder. Again NO big deal but shouldn't have to do all that to save my bookmarks to a flash drive that has plenty of free space.. I save them onto 2 flash drives just in case.
Aren't computers fun :0)

Hello, I am new to this forum and have been a hobbyist for about 5 years. Window growing with lights and humidifiers (big window ^.^) and now in the process of building a green house. Obviously no expert. Began with traditional phals...now I mostly have catts and have very good success with them. With the green house coming, I decided to virus test my collection of about 80 plants and 15 were virused; ironically, ten were the "failure to thrive" group I've been hanging onto and had little reason to continue after that. But I LOVED those plants just the same. The other five have CymMV and are doing fine quarantined. Nick, if your collection is fairly valuable and/or sentimental...WHY RISK bringing in these plants? My recommendation would be to take them ONLY IF you have a separate place to nurture them before you give them away to your family and friends. Denise

KB2 Here are a couple of pictures of virused leaves. You be the judge as far as yours are concerned.. as you know best what yours look like. Yours do appear to be more like spots than the actual moasic pattern, and it does appear that you do infact have mealy bugs,but never having had mealy bugs (so far) I'm not sure what their sucking would do to the leaves...I do wish you luck.. I will say that the Oskar in the first picture showed the moasic pattern right off the bat..most often the leaves come out clear and healthy looking and then when the weather gets hot or they are stressed for some other reason then the sympoms appear (at least for me, living in the cooler coastal northeast.... Mosaic virus is rarely, if ever, fatal,in its self. It can weaken plants,so that they are attacked by other pathogens.The plants also can become such poor perfomers that they will be discarded. Some varieties have much more resistance than others,and will grow and bloom quite well,while the insects transfer the disease from it to other plants.The other plants may not do so well. That sounds like Virut virus lets hope not though..... Unfortunately, the virus infects every .exe and .scr (actually an executable) file on your system, and when you scan with a virus scanner, it will normally delete it as uncleanable. Eventually you end up loosing more and more files. The only viable alternative is to format the system. You will need to backup your important files before a format and reinstall, but you can not backup any .exe or .scr files, because they are infected. Good luck...
