Layout questions for 7.5 x 8 hall bathroom with sit down vanity
Comments (4)I donÂt know if I can add anything to a discussion about the actual layout of the bathroom, because I would have to see a diagram of it to be able to comment intelligently. However, I am constantly looking for vanity concepts for the blog site I maintain with a fellow woodworker, and just this morning, coincidentally enough, I posted a blog on a fairly new product line from Kohler. They have come up with a wonderful idea for a whole line of bathroom fixtures, the heart of which is a vanity that seems like it would almost exactly fit your needs. IÂve posted a link to that blog at the bottom of this, if youÂre interested. A bathroom the size of yours does allow for extra large items, as opposed to the five by nine bathrooms we have in our home! But, even so, you donÂt have anything like unlimited space, which is what I found especially appealing about this particular line. Actually, they even have a smaller vanity that would fit into my postage stamp bathroom! But the whole line, as I said, is designed to conserve space while doing something nice and elegant. They even have a vanity stool with a built-in trash container! And room to slide it under the counter when itÂs not in use. Comments (18)Thanks so much for the suggestions and layout options. The base of the window is 34" above the tile and there is 2' of wall on each side of the 4' window. There is a 32" doorway which is 85+ inches from the window wall and 67+ inches from the attic wall (185" total). the doorway is centered in the 43" hallway between the closets. Weedyacres, thanks, I should extend the closet into that attic. I also like the layout flipping the closets and bathroom to eliminate the wasted hallway space. If I were building the house from scratch, and lived alone, I would do the flipped layout. Unfortunately, in my circumstances, the plumbing change would involve some significant construction in a large 1st floor room under the existing closets /bedroom, and it is way less of an issue with the den under the existing bathroom. Also, I would not want to be locked out of my closet if the wife is in the master bath. It is much easier for me to keep spare shower/shave stuff in the 2nd upstairs full bath than to organize spare suits/clothes in other closets. I so appreciate your help and ideas....See MoreNeed ideas for reconfiguring long narrow 11.5 x 5.5 bath
Comments (45)benjesbride, one reason for rotating the shower and running it the width of the exterior wall would be to get rid of the existing half wall, which now creates a large dark area by the vanity. If I rotate the shower, I was thinking about putting both the shower head and the controls on the left hand wall. Stepping into the shower to turn on the water is not a big issue and I don't like the idea of having the shower head and the controls on separate walls. cpartist, thanks for the tip on the sliding glass doors. They certainly have changed over the last 25 years! I understand your point about a shower bench. Maybe a footrest or a couple of curved corner shelves would add a little bit of decor to that end of the shower, even though I doubt the spray from the shower head would reach that far.
