I forgot to mention that I deleted the networks which aren't mine.

I went to Wireless Network Connection Properties. Then, at the second part where networks are listed, where it says Preferred Networks, I deleted the networks which aren't mine.

But even though they're gone from there, they still show up on the top part where it says Available Networks.

Go into network connections (Start/Control Panel/Network Connections). Right click the icon for the wireless connection. Select View Available Wireless Networks. Along the left, there is an option Change the order of preferred networks. Select that. Under the Wireless networks tab, there's a window with preferred networks. Highlight each one that is not yours and click remove. After that, you will only automatically connect to your network.

They'll still show up as available networks because they're still there. You can't get rid of them, only your neighbors can (by getting rid of their wireless, which probably isn't going to happen). They're still there, but you won't connect unless you select one and connect to it.

that is why it is so so so important to make sure that your wireless networks are set up securely following the proper protocol and that you have extremely strong passwords both on your router and on your pc. All those people/networks you see, they are seeing you too if your's is not set up securely and they can jump right on your's like how your's is trying to get onto theirs. It is scary how many open wireless networks are out there.
